I like them both walking together!

That one set of comments alone proves that Hobbes is Calvin’s subconscious mind trying to get his conscious mind’s attention.

Oh, and kill him after school just because he can.

Look down the road but look up as well.

I like the motto: I may have to grow old, but I don’t have to grow up!

Hobbes seems very streetwise for a jungle creature.

[Just for accuracy’s sake, it’s a concrete truck, not a cement truck. Cement is a component of concrete, which is what those trucks are delivering.]

Or it’s a truck delivering bags of cement to Home Depot.

Actually, I have more to say today, but I couldn’t fit it all into one frame. (Besides, it’s more than Calvin can deal with in one day…)

Learn from the past, make peace with the past, and remember the good things, without dwelling on injustices or regrets.

Live fully today, without living only for today.

Look to the future with anticipation and wisdom, without dwelling on worry or fear.

Have a good Thanksgiving, everyone:

Remember people from the past with thanksgiving, especially those to whom you owe a debt that you can never fully repay.

Find true joy by living fully in the present for others, without neglecting yourself. As you travel, savor the journey itself, without being impatient to reach your destination.

Look to the future boldly and wisely. Drive safely, be kind to the other drivers, and remember to look down the road.

All drivers do foolish things sometimes. Just be thankful that you don’t all drive cement trucks.

A cement truck hit a bus load of prisoners near here, they are still searching for 25 hardened criminals.

Having already enjoyed one Thanksgivng, I can now enjoy a second one calorie free.

Good morning all.

I have tried to live for the moment. When I was a child, my parents and I were visiting a friend of my dads. He had worked hard all of his life with the dream of retiring to his cabin on the lake. He died just weeks after retiring. That day is when I decided to enjoy myself now, while one can.

“Get all the gusto you can!” AKA “Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow you die.” …And Then Oblivion? or “…but after this the judgment.” - Rocky and Bullwinkle? NOT!

In response to those who insist that it is a concrete truck rather than a cement truck, I would counter-argue that the mixture of cement powder, water, sand, and gravel is not yet concrete until it has set up.

Thank you Hobbes! I try to live each day with Hope and joy and also to remember to give thanks in every circumstance. THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORDS. We DO need to look beyond ourselves and take good care of ourselves as well.

Furthermore, all the trucks I know about are made of steel, rubber, and plastic parts - not concrete.

Yes Hobbes you have made my day. I have been caught coming back from Reno on your Thanksgiving eve,what a traffic nightmare . Tell me everybody celebrates,who does the cooking,police the roads,etc?

Michael O’Donoghue of National Lampoon wrote many years ago the article “How to Write Good”. His tip was that if you get a character into an unresolvable plight, “Suddenly, John is run over by a truck!” And if it’s a group, “Suddenly, everyone is run over by a truck!”

Definitely, one should always live for the moment … just make sure you don’t do it selfishly so that other people get hurt in the process.

And always look both ways before crossing the street … getting hit by a cement truck will only ruin everyone’s day!
