Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for December 01, 2014
Transcript:
Calvin: "Hey dad, I'll guess any number you're thinking of! Go ahead, pick a number!" Dad: "Mm...ok, I've got it" Calvin: "Is it 92,376,051?" Dad: "By golly, it is!" Calvin: "Wait a minute! You're just trying to get RID of me, aren't you?!" Dad: "No, you're psychic. Go show mom"
I’m not sure this is entirely correct. It seems in the whole the dad does spend appropriate time with him. But it’s also true that kids have to learn they can’t always interrupt someone doing something else and simply assume they’ll drop whatever they’re doing for them. While parents DO need to spend time with their kids, kids also need to know they’re not the center of the universe. Balance is the word. At any rate, that doesn’t seem to be the point of this particular strip today. Rather, it shows Calvin being outsmarted – something which is also healthy for him to experience.
