I wonder if Rosalyn kicks back something to Calvin for all the bonuses she gets because of him?

In Calvin’s mind, she would never help him if he was in danger, since she’s the danger herself.

Besides, he has Hobbes.

Rosalyn knows what she’s doing when she babysits Calvin. Keep getting those bonuses!

“Next time” is where Rosalyn plays Calvinball, right? At least Calvin (kind of) behaved himself then.

Rosalyn should of tripled the 5 and asked for 15 after a night like this and then there is her boyfriend, if she has one left.

Next time, Roz should ask for triple.

Boy, that’s about the hollowest promise in parenting history …

Since Calvin was such a spitfire this time around, the “extra five” should come from his allowance.;-D

A nice little reminder, in case any kids got any bright ideas to lock their baby-sitters out of the house.

For a kid who couldn’t understand how Moe could justify his abusive behavior for stealing his truck, he doesn’t seem to have any problems with trying to justify his own abusive behavior. (Maybe we are all like that in some way)

Poor Roz didn’t get to spend the night chatting with her boyfriend, while Calvin was in his room at 6:30. Do your job, Rosalyn!

An extra 5? I would go so far as setting up a recurring debit just to cover his shenanigans, past, present and future. Tuition isn’t cheap

I’m not usually a serious poster but to all who have wondered: “Just $5 extra?” This strip is at least 25 years old. But I certainly agree she should’ve asked for more. With my two boys, we didn’t even get to offer an extra $5 – the sitters usually said “Don’t call me again.” Sigh…

Rosalyn certainly understands supply and demand.

Rosalyn…..you’re in an excellent bargaining position. No one else will take the job. Demand a hundred. Or more.

In the future, Calvin’s parents will give Rosalyn a spare key when she babysits.

Actually, “mean” is the main thing, here. The other perils and disasters were mere possibilities and not very likely (and didn’t in fact happen). Mean happened. Mean was on purpose. Mean was the whole point.

A deal maker…

Gee – is that all Calvin gets in the way of punishment???? A short lecture from Mom and a half-hearted apology from Calvin to Rosalyn? No wonder he does whatever he wants and whenever he wants. Dad – you need to step in here. First of all, give Rosalyn $10.00 (she has earned it tonight) and take it from any savings Calvin has. Then punish Calvin to impress on him that you don’t do things like he did tonight. A simple talking to from Mom is not going to get it.

You can really tell this strip was made before cellphones were ubiquitous.

It shows how long ago this strip was… today, Rosalyn would demand an extra $20!

I am finding Calvin less and less funny.
