The only thing that would make Calvin enjoy that parade more is if he could drive the car.

Calvin’s daydreams are right up there with Ralphie Parker’s.

That’s how I felt when I had my first perfect score.

It gets you part-way there anyway, Calvin.

You have to give him credit for a good imagination.

He may not pay attention much of the time, but there’s no denying Calvin is a smart kid.

It took me a lot of years to learn that, no matter how much I learn, I am only the subject matter expert until they hand me the next project.

A nice little high point in what’s otherwise another boring school day for Calvin. This and his story from the third and final time machine arc are the only times I know Calvin got an “A”. I’m also reminded of when the Simpsons family made a big deal out of Bart getting his first “A”, taking him out to eat and him wearing an “A” crown.

Not even the proverbial 15 minutes.

fame is ephemeral

I took a class in 8086 assembler at a local junior college quite a few years back. One day I walked into class and discovered that we were having a test. I had forgotten it completely. I was in a state of near panic. When we got the tests back I discovered that I’d gotten 100%. I’ve never recovered from that.
