Watterson should have developed this topic which Susie (or whomever) suggested. A good arc would have been Calvin (along with his buddy Mo) taking a short bus to a “new” school on the other side of town where Calvin would meet a myriad of new characters.
In Canada the differently abled went to special schools and many excelled with the individual learning. 20 years ago the local government decided they would do better in ‘regular’ schools. Now we have one teacher in every class like before but up to 4 teachers aids (keepers) in EVERY class trying to keep a lid on the disruption and violence from the special bus kids. The ordinary kids get no time with a teacher because every minute of class time is teaching or reteaching the special kids who cannot get what is going on. No one learns.

Bill is great at drawing ugly faces. In fact, that’s probably how Calvin looks IRL, after Moe slugs him!!

That thought probably crossed the teacher’s mind very frequently over the year.

It would be hard to find a school that is special enough for Calvin.

In panel four, Calvin looks like one of the “hot rod monster” characters from the 60s.

Add screenwriter to one of the jobs an adult Calvin would have been great at.

Panel 4 says it all. Calvin gets my vote for most hideously deformed evil henchman.

Calvin doesn’t need a special school, he’s in a class by himself!

No special school would take him. Public school is stuck with him.

Definitely one of the funniest show-and-tell strips! My brother and I like to do Blor-Utar’s voice as a rhythmic robotic monotone.
