Cathy: 'Tis better to give than to receive the January bills. Mom; If you could do Christmas all over again, would you do it differently, Cathy? Cathy: Yes! What was I thinking, Mom? How could I do this to myself?? Mom: Would you have paid $45 for a photo album when they're all over town for $10? Cathy: ...Well yes. The one I got for Andrea was perfect. I would have done that. Mom: Would you have spent $30 on a cookie jar for a cat? Cathy: That was Charlene's favorite gift! Yes! I would have done that! Mom: Would you have wasted $90 on designer hand lotions when the supermarket sells the same thing for next to nothing?? Cathy: Yes! I'm not giving my friends a gift from the supermarket! Mom: Yould you have dumped $200 on a holiday dress taht you had no place to wear?? Cathy: Yes! That fabulous dress was the self-esteem rejuvinating equivalent of a year of therapy!! It was worth every penny even if it never leaves my closet!! Mom: What exactly would you do differently? Cathy: Wouldn't show the bills to my mother. Mom: Misery loves company as long as the company doesn't peek at the receipts.
