Cathy: Chips! Chips! Chips! Chips! Chips! QUIET! Ate celery sticks so I wouldn't eat chips. Still wanted the chips. Ate melon balls so I wouldn't eat chips. Still wanted the chips. Ate 100-calorie snack pack so I wouldn't eat chips. Still wanted the chips. Ate air-popped popcorn so I wouldn't eat chips. Still want the chips, but I am not going near the chips! Not opening the chip cupboard! For once, I am triumphing over the chips!! Irving: Oh, don't worry! I ate all the chips last night! We don't have any chips in the house! Cathy: I ask the eternal question: is my stomach half-empty or half-full? 8:00 pm. 8:05 pm. 8:06 pm. 8:07 pm. 8:18 pm. 8:22 pm. 8:23 pm. 8:30 pm. 8:31 pm.
It has been fun, sort of, catching up on the list week’s strips. I normally, like today, read the comics while having my normal 2pm afternoon snack – yogurt + something sweet (usually with chocolate). I should point out that breakfast is usually sometime around 10am and I don’t have a lunch. I will admit it takes a lot of willpower to limit the snack to 2 chocolate chip cookies as 2 never seems enough. If I miss this snack then the 4pm low blood sugar shakes set it and I end up eating more to feel better and then end up too full for supper. Got to manage those sugar calories carefully.Had a good chuckle on my last visit to my nephrologist. She noted my low blood sugar on the blood test taken at 3:30pm. Her remedy, eat more cookies for my afternoon snack. She would not give me a prescription for that so I could prove it to my wife.
No afternoon snacks last week. Something about big breakfasts and even bigger dinners and the humid hot Florida days making it difficult to eat in the middle of the day. We did have a fantastic week with my daughters though since we did spend a couple of hours every afternoon either napping in the air conditioned room or immersed in the pool. I did notice that with the heat our step count was down from our usual average on our November visits. Only an daily average of 10.8 km (6.7 miles) per day instead of our usual 14 km (8.7 mi). That means I have 4 lbs to work off instead of breaking even. If I had to do the week over again – I would!
