Transcript:
Mom and Dad: Put down those heavy suitcases, Cathy! You'll strain your back! Where's your hat? You'll catch pneumonia! Don't walk so fast! You'll fall and poke your eye out! Here! Let us help you! Did you eat breakfast? Did you have lunch? Did you get any sleep? Have some cocoa! Have an afghan! Have some slippers! Have a cheese platter! Cathy: How do you think I sustain life for the other 364 days a year, mom and dad? Mom: You call us, e-mail us, fax us, and when all systems are down, you listen to the prerecorded speeches we planted into your brain! Cathy: ...Oh, right. Dad: Welcome home, baby.

Every once in a while, everyone gets what they need and gives what is needed is just the right proportions. Even if it’s a lot

Those “pre-recorded speeches” do work. One very hot day I bought a bottle of water at a gas station. Inside my head, I clearly heard my Father’s voice say, “You paid a dollar for WHAT?”

Merry Christmas everyone. Please translate that to the greeting of your choice. I kind of like Happy Saturnalia actually.
My older daughter is on her way today. She just reached the halfway point and the roads and weather are better up north here than she encountered at the start of her trip so we will be celebrating Christmas eve tonight. Yea!!!
