I read this earlier today. And felt as if Dear Maxx was wishing for us all to shine and sparkle. Because Maxx brings so much sparkle to us! Thank you Maxx! I will try my best… as you do!
I have a bottle of lake glass, collected long ago, across Lake Michigan’s beachfront in Chicago. Not shiny, but, full of memories, so, shiny in it’s own way.
All wonderful things to contemplate, filled with smiles. Thanks for adding some sparkle to my day with this wonderful strip.
Ages ago, our family was stationed in France; on a family vacation to Spain, Mom collected a lot of sea glass on the shores of the Mediterranean. I loved looking at those pieces and wondering what stories each one could tell. People around the Mediterranean have been using glass for such a very long time, some of those tumbled bits might have seen great history.
The elementary school where I was a Title 1 reading teacher was across the river from the main town. One of them brought me a piece of river glass and asking me what kind of rock it was. I explained about river glass, lake glass, and sea glass and told them I loved rocks of all sorts and collected them as souvenirs when I traveled. My collection included few pieces of lake glass I’d collected along the shores of Lake Erie. From then on, I would frequently find pieces of colorful river glass or other interesting rocks on my desk. Those quiet little gifts of rocks are still precious to me.
