Wow!! Finally We have electricity again. I was in bed and asleep when every light in the house suddenly come on in a blinding display. Especially impressive when it has been pitch dark for hours and now, all at once, in the middle of the night…….briliance!
If you have been watching the national weather report you have seen that Northern California had a major storm passing through today. It rained buckets and along with all the “wet” we had some pretty intense winds. That’s what took the electricity out a little bit after noon today. I understand that some wet and rain sodden trees went down on the lines in various places and because of the difficult working conditions it evidently took a while to get things up and working again.
Obviously my computer was useless and fast asleep without electricity. So I coulldn’t even see any comments or visit any sites…..or anything.
I have been miserable with a severe head cold. I guess I picked it up when I was wrestling with the water soaked rugs and rug pads at my friends house last week and I got really cold because the temperature was pretty chilly and the wind was blowing and I was soaking wet from pulling the carpet up and out of the house. I didn’t have a choice though. The carpet had to come out. It couldn’t be left on the plywood floor because that would just completely ruin it and there would be the extra expense of replacing the subfloor.
But I wasn’t alone. My brother didn’t want me to pull up the carpet even though he admitted it was something that really should be done to reduce the damage to the floor and all the extra cost that would come with it. So, really great guy that he is, in spite of his misgivings he joined me in the furniture moving and tearing up and removing the satureated carpet and pad. He has developed a cold too.
I was planning to take two weeks off and do nothing but what I wanted to do and relax and learn how to get my avatar up and learn how to do the neat pictures in my comments. Instead I managed to get tangled up in a major problem to help a friend and to get a head cold that has me looking like a clown with a big red nose.
That’s OK. I’ll get better and in the meantime I am going to try to squeeze out the time to do what I wanted to do in the first place, figure out how to do all the electronic marvels on my computer that everyone else seems so adept at doing.
I also have to pick out carpeting and some kind of vinyl for my friend’s house. Poor guy doesn’t have the ability to make good decisions for himself because he gets confused with the plethora of choices open to him and with the decisions about costs, durability of product, color choices and so on. So I will do it for him. Probably within the next week or so, when I’m over the cold.
I haven’t even caught up on reading the Citizen Dog comments for the past few days. Got to do that! I have a Polish recipe to post too.
Sleep well and stay warm all you Security minded Citizen Dog cronies. noicant, StelBel, Dry, Citizen GROG, Sugie, Cleokaya, x_Tech, JP Steve, Nighthawks, Chefwen, Greg Trail, Shickamoo and Serenaskitty.
