Wow!! Finally We have electricity again. I was in bed and asleep when every light in the house suddenly come on in a blinding display. Especially impressive when it has been pitch dark for hours and now, all at once, in the middle of the night…….briliance!
If you have been watching the national weather report you have seen that Northern California had a major storm passing through today. It rained buckets and along with all the “wet” we had some pretty intense winds. That’s what took the electricity out a little bit after noon today. I understand that some wet and rain sodden trees went down on the lines in various places and because of the difficult working conditions it evidently took a while to get things up and working again.
Obviously my computer was useless and fast asleep without electricity. So I coulldn’t even see any comments or visit any sites…..or anything.
I have been miserable with a severe head cold. I guess I picked it up when I was wrestling with the water soaked rugs and rug pads at my friends house last week and I got really cold because the temperature was pretty chilly and the wind was blowing and I was soaking wet from pulling the carpet up and out of the house. I didn’t have a choice though. The carpet had to come out. It couldn’t be left on the plywood floor because that would just completely ruin it and there would be the extra expense of replacing the subfloor.
But I wasn’t alone. My brother didn’t want me to pull up the carpet even though he admitted it was something that really should be done to reduce the damage to the floor and all the extra cost that would come with it. So, really great guy that he is, in spite of his misgivings he joined me in the furniture moving and tearing up and removing the satureated carpet and pad. He has developed a cold too.
I was planning to take two weeks off and do nothing but what I wanted to do and relax and learn how to get my avatar up and learn how to do the neat pictures in my comments. Instead I managed to get tangled up in a major problem to help a friend and to get a head cold that has me looking like a clown with a big red nose.
That’s OK. I’ll get better and in the meantime I am going to try to squeeze out the time to do what I wanted to do in the first place, figure out how to do all the electronic marvels on my computer that everyone else seems so adept at doing.
I also have to pick out carpeting and some kind of vinyl for my friend’s house. Poor guy doesn’t have the ability to make good decisions for himself because he gets confused with the plethora of choices open to him and with the decisions about costs, durability of product, color choices and so on. So I will do it for him. Probably within the next week or so, when I’m over the cold.
I haven’t even caught up on reading the Citizen Dog comments for the past few days. Got to do that! I have a Polish recipe to post too.
Sleep well and stay warm all you Security minded Citizen Dog cronies. noicant, StelBel, Dry, Citizen GROG, Sugie, Cleokaya, x_Tech, JP Steve, Nighthawks, Chefwen, Greg Trail, Shickamoo and Serenaskitty.
@ puppybreath My comment to you yesterday morning disappeared. While I so admire you and how giving you are…how always ready you are to help out where you see a need, you won’t be able to continue to do that if you don’t pace yourself, lady. I hate to be one that says, “I told you so!”, but, you really didn’t allow yourself enough time to bounce back from the first cold, then the flu. None of us is getting any younger, including you (as much as all of us hate to admit it). You have got to ease up for a while. Isn’t there any way that you could enlist some help from church or community groups? Some groups are just looking for ways to help people out. What about the girl scouts or boy scouts? I wonder if some eager future Eagle scouts could help out “Gary”? And, maybe some contractors and stores might be willing to pitch in with services and goods (a la Extreme Makeover). It provides business people with good advertising, too. Instead of killing yourself, pulling up wet carpet, put that energy into finding goods and services…finding people who are better able to do what needs to be done. I worry about you so much. I wish I could bring you some nice home-made chicken soup, a hot water bottle and a fresh box of Puffs Plus! But, alas, I cannot do anything but hope that you’ll feel better real soon, and not jump back into the fray and get a relapse…again.
I’m still getting the “X”, but I get all my strips from both sites (this and the Daily Ink) delivered. I went to the e-mail to read the strip, then I posted my comment.
Took our youngest back to college for the week. Took him grocery shopping first, and Fellow Baby I bought myself a can of Spam! LOL! (References from the other strips, LOL!)
Fellow Baby I checked up him at Wikipedia, and the dateline was different, or my morning wake up head got the math wrong! I think I saw one or two of the New KRP’s but it wasnt the same, so I stopped. Although, according to Wikipedia, Dr. Johnny Fever (H.H.) was in 8 episodes over the 2 years, and was a director as well later on.
Fellow Baby, I liked HH on Head of the Class with all those nerdy teenagers.
I take it you saw my comment on The Dinette Set? I can’t understand how anyone can possibly eat such a vile concoction. It’s about the only pork product I will not eat.
Fellow Baby, Every few years when someone mentions it, I get hungry for it. I saw it in the weekly grocery circular and then Number Six posted that photo, and well,,,, I’m WEAK! What can I say? :-D They have different flavors now, you know! It kind of reminds me of Scrapple. But Scrapple is usually sold in bigger pieces than I can eat at once. It can be frozen, but it’s not as good then. And I’m the only one in the family that likes it, so
It was a pretty good show, but not as good as the one and only original WKRP, not to take anything away from those kids. They were good. I have not seen the show on repeats. It’s one of the few I wouldn’t mind seeing again.
Ok I’ll try this again. Good late evening to all you CD kids out there. Just posted a comment, only to watch it disappear. First time thats happened.Well I’m too tired to type all that again so good night all..Hope you feel better soon puppybreath and good luck with those darn avatars.

Say Fellow Baby Did you ever watch the New WKRP in Cincinnati when it was on?
GROG Premium Member over 12 years ago
According to the On This Day site, he was born in 1934, Fellow Baby. That would have made him 78.
I never did see the new WKRP. I wonder if it was any good.
