George: Dad, I hate to deflate your story about the cartoonist coining the term "hot dog" at a baseball game, but it's just not true. Jerome's grandpa: I know it's true because I was there. I was one of the hot dog vendors. George: Really? Back in the early 1900s? You started working at a young age. Jerome's grandpa: We were poor. We all had to contribute. George: Dad, that story takes place in 1902 - before you were born. Jerome's grandpa: We were really, really poor.
