Bert, the coil takes that 12 vdc and converts it to about 12kv, definitely more volts than necessary, lol. But then because it’s discharged as a spark, it’s much like static electricity in that there’s little or no current involved. Doesn’t mean it won’t give you a good shock though.

Edit for afterthought: I guess hooking him up to a plug wire would be better than directly to the coil, but then I knew what I meant.
