No one is earning the big bucks in that car – a blogger, a campaign manager, and a graduate student. Don’t have to worry about them ever joining the 1%.

When you read Rick’s blog on the Huffpost please follow the link to his website strugglingwriter.org. There you can find tee shirts, coffee mugs and refrigerator magnets and all the material that he was once paid for to write.

Unlike Rick, at least Leo has a job and while the pay may not be great, at least it’s something. Toggle is young and has shown remarkable resilience for someone who has gone through what he has. Rick on the other hand is on the down slope from recognized reporter and writer to possibly unread and unpaid blogger. GT is showing us both sides of the coin.

There is rather a lot of judging of people’s comments that goes on around here. At least at Huffpo, people don’t seem to worry about whether or not someone is making a “warm and human” comment. Light and airy nonpolitical fluff is not really what Doonesbury is entirely about. GT does make some nonpolitical points, but politics is certainly part of the conversation, which is why some of us have no interest in the more conventional cartoon strips. If you see expressing an political opinion as terribly negative, I am afraid maybe you should try a different part of the world, where people aren’t allowed to express such opinions.

Speaking of Huffpo, they have an article about a topic talked about on this strip— veteran jobs.

Once again Alex seems to have forgotten that Leo’s still in school. If you can get a paying job in your chosen field while still learning your chosen field, you’re lucky indeed. When he finishes his education, his options (both in terms of qualifications and flexibility) will improve.

No one is forced to write for huffpo. At least if something appears on huffpo it might possibly be read, unlike many other places online, so that is a positive aspect of writing for huffpo.

Anyone that thinks Arianna Huffington is a representative of most real liberals has their head under… um,… a cleft rock.We could care less what the celebrities think. We work for justice because it’s right and fair, not because it’s trendy.

@Redkaycei RepocTo be fair to GuardSGT, who has not recently been posting as he used to so far as I can see, he makes a very fair point. Johnlofton’s answer is also fair enough, but I would disagree with montessoriteacher – I think it is fundamentally exploitative to set up a news site on the basis that you won’t pay the people who write for you. Her erstwhile lover and mentor Bernard Levin, one of the greatest journalists of his generation, would certainly have had something trenchant and disapproving to say about it.

That’s Arianna Stassinopolous/Huffington’s former lover and mentor. Not montessoriteacher’s. Just to be clear…
