Transcript:
Woman: There we are, a nice pink bow to finish it off. Poo Poo: Arrgh! That's it! I can't take it anymore! Woman: Poo Poo! Poo Poo: I'm changing... changing! The one called "Poo Poo" is no more! Ha ha haa! Now there is only... Tar-Gor!
Poo Poo, don’t you remember what happen the last time you did this? You were cleaned up as fast as you showed up at home. You needn’t become Tar-Gor, just channel him!
I think the perfect scenario now is to have poor little Poo Poo come into contact with feathers on their way to a pilow factory. Then perhaps we could have a little pink chicken.
Powerboy and kreole, periodic reruns in comic strips are reasonably common these days. Some of the syndicates offer a couple of weeks “vacation” to their contributors as part of the standard contract these days, but I don’t think everyone takes advantage of that.
It was partially the result of a number of very popular strips going on extended hiatus (like, 18 months) because the creators were burning out. The big ones were Doonesbury, Calvin & Hobbes, and The Far Side.
This doesn’t mean that no cartoonist ever took vacations before, but they were expected to provide enough work in advance to cover their absences. Charles Schulz would have been horrified at the suggestion of running repeats (despite the appearance of Rerun), but he never took a vacation in his life, pretty much, and when he had heart surgery scheduled he drew enough advance strips to cover his recovery.
Of course, if your strip is actually being written and drawn by a studio full of assistants and all you do is sign your name and collect the paychecks (naming no names), this isn’t an issue…
It’s not a rerun or a rehash - it’s just a running gag.
Nobody complains when the dogs plot to catapult all cats to the moon - okay, they do complain, but not about it being a rerun. Besides, in the comments 2 days ago someone suggested Poo Poo change to Tar-Gor.
Funny thing. I have a Maltese who looks like Poo Poo, and I call her Poo Poo but did not know about the comic. Several people told me about the dog in a comic with the same name as my Sophie (real name/Poo Poo nickname).
I love it. I treat her the same way and would have a fit if she became TAR GOR.

It is going to take all manner of lavender shampoos and body scrubs to get you back in shape to resume your duties as a purse pup.

That’s an old strip….he already did that a few years ago. What’s going on?

This is a rerun or a rehash (a recycled story made with a different plotline).

I remember this too. I don’t think it’s a rerun, he’s just decided to do Tar-gor again.

I think it’s a REHASH. Then again I didn’t follow this till recently. To me, it’s all new.

Even Reece Witherspoon’s purse doggie was named “bruiser”. Poor little poo poo. I would commit the ultimate sin and mate a kitty.

New to me, too. Went without comics for 15 years. Don’t know how I survived.

Oh, that’s gonna hurt once the tar gets off. When removing tar from your skin, the skin comes off too. NASTY! X(

And didn’t last time he became Tar Gor (lead astray by Poncho, of course) result in Poo Poo having to wear a zip-on poo-poo suit with butt pads?

Good job Tar-Gor, I knew you had it in you! After all, you are the only one in the Cafe that’s “intact”.
