Great Googly Moogly SeaFox! Underestimating your opponent is probably the dumbest thing you can do. I dislike the President, and won’t vote for him, but to characterize him as stupid is wrong and disrespectful. Joe Biden on the other hand…

Wow, nurses don’t use division? They don’t calculate dosages based on body weight, for instance?

What I say about all people who claim they do not use math in their work. " If you will not learn it, they will hire someone else who will, for less. " everything boils down to simple numbers

Anurse in Louisiana sent me a very thorough explanantion of the many instances where she uses long division in her everyday life, so I stand corrected.

Back when I was a museum modeller (it was in Canada and that’s how they spell it), I used algebra frequently in finding the scale dimension from the prototype. I still need it occasionally..Hunter 7: Yes, there is a short division..Lame Random Name: I had it mostly right. I knew it came from Arabic and that al is a definite article, but I though jebr was the root of gibberish. :-) Romans used an abacus for most math, and it endured through the Dark Ages until Crusaders learned position numbers and the zero. Throughout that period, the merchant’s table had grooves and pebbles to serve as the abacus – that is why the table became called the counter.
