And I agree with the caller. Obama did inherited one heck of a mess. A heck of a mess someone else started nine years ago!

It seems to me a bit sophomoric to critique a regime that is just getting under way.

Joe–somebody has to work today. My wife’s a cardiac nurse, and she’s putting in twelve hours. Seems people can’t stop having heart attacks for even one lousy day of the year… Where’s their Christmas spirit, anyway?

I was hoping for a beautiful Christmas in the trailer park. MERRY CHRISTMAS to Toggle and all of his buds.

Hmmm, I hope no one takes the last frame of this cartoon literally. Please clarify Mark’s statement Mr. Trudeau.

My orthopaedic surgeon husband is working today too. I wish he was home with his daughter and I. He will be later though. I was afraid that the expectations for Obama would be through the roof and that would be impossible for anyone to live up to. People need to cut him some slack. At least he is getting some R and R in Hawaii. My inlaws live there in Kailua and it is really beautiful. I also think that Obama ran as a moderate and that is what he seems to be. People need to realize that compromises have to be made or they can try to buffalo their way through and gain nothing. As Hubert Humphrey once said, half a loaf is better than none. The Happy Warrior had a point. FDR had a dream that perhaps could never be realized. If you see the latest Michael Moore movie you would see in the last scene where FDR made a comment which was never before broadcast concerning the need for universal health care. Let’s just go forward and see what can be done. Things can always be amended later.

This week’s storyline brought to you by Jane Hamsher at FAILdoglake, and half of DailyKos. Offer firm and measured criticisms, stand up for your principles, but stop stealing the teabag crazy.

He hasn’t “betrayed liberals” It’s just radicals, he’s disappointed. Now he is EVERYBODY’S PRESIDENT, not just a bunch of wild eye fringe dwellers. He’ll do what he can, but we elected him President, not Dictator & certainly NOT GOD! Grow up!

Trudeau is a flake. He can’t come up with anything new so he attacks a man who like the rest of us is struggling with the mess this country slipped into thanks to the bush. Do people think Obama is a magician? He has to work with a partisan congress with barely any cohesion in the democratic party who seem only capable of passing laws that benefit insurance companies and the banks. Obama has done great things–he’s come up with brilliant initiatives and guidelines for what he intends to happen, but he can’t write the laws or fight the wars himself–we elected him president so he could motivate others to move our country forward. But all Trudeau and the rag-tag republicans can do is to punish the messenger at the expense of what this country can achieve if people stop bickering and just concentrate on moving forward. This is the day of peace and not one in which stymied cartoonists should rant their tragic foolishness in print. All I can hope is that Trudeau reads some of our concerns and stops this perilous downward plummet before he craters into verbal infamy.

avacadomango - If an author’s character makes a statement that is not necessarily the author speaking. Mark has always been an overthetop radical. He WOULD feel betrayed by Mr. Obama’s centerist policies. But Trudeau has always protrayed Mark as an inrealistic idealist. Notice how he’s being applauded in the last panel by BD, the archconservative. This is a pretty accurate statement about the politial stratification of America, It says to me that the American people must indeed “stop bickering and just concentrate on moving forward.” But will they? Trudeau is a satirist, and satirists are not the most hopeful people.

justice22? The “He’s dead to me” is the Orthodox Jewish version of excommunication/shunning. Someone so transgresses/offends/disappoints you that you declare them dead, and sit shiva for them. shiva being the mourning ritual for the dead. Only you do it for a live person, and do not relate to them again. harsh. kinda Amish.

    The first panel says, “I not…” , not “I’m [or I am] not…”
