Paige: Can you make my pancakes heart-shaped? Roger: Not a problem! Peter: Can you make my pancakes football-shaped? Roger: You got it! Jason: Can you make my pancakes heptagon-shaped and tile them on the plate in a poincare disk model of the hyperbolic plane? You can make as many as you want, by the way. Peter: Wikipedia should thank you for all the traffic you send their way. Roger: Jason, can you come hold my laptop while I pour the batter?

It took me a second to get the joke in the last panel, but I got it! :)

Good thing Roger is making them, or they’d have tofu cakes.Agreed, WQ, let Jason make his own, or eat what Roger makes him. Besides, Jason did that research, just to get Roger to do the same. He’d have to get a mold or heptagon cutter to get a pancake with that many sides that are equal enough to start tiling them, he he.

I like my maple-leaf shaped pancake mold: works good with scrambled eggs as well (not at the same time, of course).

I’m happy if they’re cooked w/o being burned.

Dad reponds: Well, no. Given the mathmatical constrainsts you have just described, I can not make even one pancake that would satify all the parameters of you proposed model.

A simple tesseract for me, please, and would you pass the non-Euclidean syrup

I’d like a Mobius pancake.

Is Bill Amend really that much of a math/geometry geek, or does he need to research all of Jason Fox’s knowledge?

Haven’t you ever heard of an unfolded tesseract?

While the gag is quite funny, I’m wondering how Roger even turned on the laptop, much less to got Wikipedia or even opening a browser.

Jason will be waiting hungry a long time.

Now… does he mean how many times he sends his dad there… or how many of US would go there to look? ;-)

I’m guessing Jason just asked for round pancakes stacked on top of one another.
