To Burgundy2: I’ve been back at work after a year off on maternity. Still reading comics but sometimes only every few days and mostly in evenings, so there never seems much point posting at that point. :)
In all of this has her son even once entered her mind? What if Phil sees her and is happy she’s there, and wants to take her out after the show? Will she tell him that she came to his show rather than going home to her son who’s broken his leg?
Macushlalondra, I was wondering that, too–it’s almost like the broken leg storyline just dropped off. Perhaps she’s thinking that she won’t be able to do anything more for Lawrence than what Elly can do, but still…she is* his mom, and I’m betting that a little kid with a broken leg is going to be comforted immeasurably by his mom just *being there.
She’s in love, and made this whole trip to see Phil and hope that he’s going to be happy to see her. She can’t abandon that mission before it comes to a conclusion.
Infatuation isn’t rational, it’s paranoid and agitating. Of course she’s acting irrationally, it’s the nature of the beast. It’s just that it usually happens as a teenager or 20-something.
gene2u - You’re right and obviously no one else is a single mother. Once arrangements are made for alone time you take advantage no matter what. Besides the drive time between Montreal & Toronto was 7-8 hours so she wouldn’t have been able to help anyway.
There is nothing she can do for Lawrence now, his broken leg has been looked after so she may as well take advantage of her time away. If she gets “lucky” so much the better!
Connie expects Phil to notice her while he plays his horn at the band. I do not think soooo! He just ignored her and kept playing his horn till he finished playing and walking away from Connie anyway. I wish I could predict what they will do the next.
Lynn “finished off ” the family a saga a couple years back (How many?) Following the kids to full growth and telling us their fate in an especially memorable Sunday column, then she went back to the beginning and seems to be retelling with these side stories added. Still hard for me to see mike as a kid instead of grown, with his own family and writing for a living, locked forever in the arms of his childhood sweetheart. It sometimes make it feel bittersweet as well as funny. Gives me an odd feeling about this strip since then. Not terrible, just missing the train set, like 500 days of summer with all the flashbacks after the end of the relationship.
Even if Lawrence is doing ok and not in a desperate situation where she absolutely has to be there, he is still her responsibility and not Elly’s. She’s unloaded him onto Elly while she chases after Phil but now he has a broken leg which makes even more work for Elly with his care. I sure hope Connie is paying her for this but somehow I doubt it.
Obviously those who think she is such a bad bad mom didn’t read about the mom who slashed her infant with a knife in the news ‘round ‘bout our way today. Kids do survive being left with a friend of the family for a few days – even when accidents happen. Whoever wrote yesterday that Connie is the worst mom they’ve ever seen has not been living in the real world for a long long time.

Oh, just enjoy the show, Connie. If he notices you, great. If he doesn’t notice you, great.
Post anytime, GuntotingLiberal. There’s always someone reading…

I guess we’re going to blame Connie too that Lawrence is gay!

The funniest part of this is that I’ve rarely been infatuated in this way with anyone, but I know those thoughts very well.

I was really looking forward to Lizzie having kids and april going to university. I’m a bit confused why it was decided to start the strip over again.
As for Phil seeing her in the audience, there are stage lights shining in his eyes.

My husband is in a band and believe me, those boys up there on the stage don’t miss a thing - especially girls trying to get their attention!
