    “Petifors?”

    OK, whatever…

Sooner or later, though, Dick is gonna wise up and realize that any time his wife or daughter is excited about going to see any type of show or cultural event, it is not going to end well.

    Also…

    Panel One:

Is that your guitar, or do you have Peyronie’s disease?

    Went to dictionary.com with “petifors.”

    petifors

    no dictionary results

    No results found for petifors:

Did you mean petit fours, Mr. Locher?

Could you hire me to be your proofreader? I need a better job …

Maxine, I believe “petifores,” though non-standard, is in common use. Don’t know which spelling is correct, though.

    Regarding the concert:

Hopefully the popcorn will be good.

It’s petit fours. Maxine is correct. At least have your wife look at your stuff first, Locher.

Flightsuit, I believe that readers have Sooner (rather than later) discovered that Locher has beaten that “lead in” through Tess to death. Time to think of something more original. Problem seems to be that without a predetermined script there is frequent story revisionism (‘just “thought” of that”), every morning when he sits down to think about what happens NEXT in the strip.

Result : Uncomfortabe sequences to lead into the next, he “just thought up” with “silly season” and contradictions on his face like fruit cake he’d rather quickly forget about.

Then you have to wonder if the word interplay between Dick and Tess above is not a real life reflection of his situation at home ?

Can’t help but comment on panel 1 with what looks like a BENT “fret” board on the Guitar and some rough Locher “penciling” on those little hands, stubby fingers – INCREDIBLY, inked over “as is?”

I’m afraid after all the “Hoo Hah” written by TMS when they launched Brozman a year ago has turned out to be a gross “exaggeration”, as his shortcomings in bacground ART, on BUILDINGS (Jack’s and the Concert Hall) and FURNITURE (leaning table lamps, clunky violins) are painfully evident. I’d say much worse than Locher’s. Even stooping to pick up the latter’s bad, bend down “paste up” panel habits.

Maybe TMS got this Rooster for a “thin dime”(?) for the weak results show everytime this Cocksman “crows”!

As the Chinaman says, … “cheap t’ing no good” !

DT seems to have figured it out, too. The look on his face suggests he’d rather have a tooth extraction than go to this concert.

this may be very interesting for Tracy….it appears that the father and son are booked for the same gig.

Cheer up Dick…. looks like you might have a knock down drag out fight on your hands…. when the maestro meets his son there and sees the modified strad… we might have a fight or a stand off that will last a week or two… actually I think it could be rather “explosive”

    For petifores (with an “e”)

Personally, I prefer petit eights. Twice as big! (Please don’t hate me. I can’t help myself.)

The correct spelling is “petifores”. It’s only fitting that the strip with the worst writer and worst artist have the worst proofreader. Amazing that the lettering is legible.

Petit = little, small Four = oven.how that becomes a little frosted piece of cake is beyond me. Then again, so is about everything in French.

So now they all come together. The ambassador who wants the finest of everything gets a rock band that’s never played a gig before. The great maestro is invited even though he will have nothing to do with the music. And Dick Tracy, who has no business being there except to provide additional security, is sent an invitation instead of just being assigned by Liz like any other cop would be. Locher wants the three of them there together, but how he gets them there is poorly thought out. I guess with a comic strip he figures he gets all the poetic license he needs.

Today’s strip reminds me of three cars in an intersection, slowly rolling to a minor collision.

Might be an interesting family feud in the offing! Macy knows that “petifore” is a movement that only an accomplished pole dancer can do.

Does Tracy actually set out to do any police work.? He seems to stumble across crimes with a frequency that would is more ‘Murder She Wrote’ than ‘Law and Order’

I’m sorry, there’s no such word in the dictionary as “petifors.” What you mean is petit fours… pronounced petifors. Little bite-sized cakes, delicately frosted and decorated.

You’ll find a few instances of petifors online, but that’s because people can’t spell and don’t take the trouble to use dictionaries.

jfmcenanly, Modern day Tracy is a casualty of a cronic “repeating” writing style that plagues Dick Locher. Perhaps he fantasizes that he’s playing a game of golf, that he’s Tiger Woods, and where-ever he “plays”, he wants to “hit it” just like Tiger did, the “same way” everytime.

No wonder readers are all pregnant with worry

Like Tiger and wife Elin, we’re all waiting for Dick to retire from the game.

    “The HMS Petifor”

As a lad he learned to play Concert music his fathers way And as he grew to his dads dismay Rock and roll was all he wanted to play To fund his band he stole the strad Just another good boy gone to bad Just another good boy gone to bad

He disappeared with the goods And went and sold it to some hoods When dad found out he sure was pissed The Stradivarius was what he really missed He missed it so much he blew his crown And went at sonny in a big smack down And went at sonny in a big smack down

Tracy was then assigned to the case Lizz wanted the precinct to save face And as to what she could be thinking Of that we don’t even have an inkling And of late I think we can all attest His detective skills are not the best His detective skills are not the best

The Stradivarius was a marvelous thing It could alter the number of it’s strings And with strings so many and so few Surely there’d be an argument or two Though what we have come to suspect It’s just another matter of neglect It’s just another matter of neglect

Now there comes an embassy ball Someone’s in for a great big fall Father, son, and Tracy too They’re all together in this stew The pace moves faster than before But there’s still the matter of the Petifor But there’s still the matter of the Petifor.
