Another Rerun- first published August 22, 2011. Just for the record: DC, where Mark lives, legalized same sex marriage before New York did.

Depression, if it’s real and it’s what Mark really has, can be as serious medical condition as heart disease or cancer.

And if it’s not real, then Mark may be treating his two friends like a mild sociopath.

Even i remember this one – and I live in Australia. GT can you ring a bell or something so that we know when you’re going to do this to us, so we know when it’s going to happen, in future?

I think it’s time for Mark to come out of the closet and admit he’s asexual. In all the time the strip’s run, he’s never really been that into men or women. Maybe he and Zonker should consider moving in together.

There aren’t many comments when it is a rerun. Maybe they should rerun the ones that generated more controversy, like the abortion story line a few months back? There were lots of thoughts and comments generated back then.

Or, GT could go back to Romney bashing. Fine with me. As I like to remind our right wing friends, it is a free country. Romney has straddled so many fences he could build a tree house in a redwood from the splinters in his rear end! This is why I can’t believe that the GOP could feel good about Romney either, even if they believe they can control him once he gets into office. He has certainly taken a lot of different positions.

More debate drama coming tomorrow. I am sure there will be comments regarding the debate drama regardless of the subject of Doonesbury this week.

No wonder Ann Romney always looks so happy.

In memory of Arlen Specter, who passed away this weekend, he (Arlen) said that Romney had taken “more positions than a pornographic movie queen.”

Things are changing. My daughter’s high school was given a survey about their political beliefs. They were asked whether or not they support same sex marriage. She said she thought she was one of the few who supported it, because she is a very tolerant person, and many of the kids seemed to assume that it was really asking whether or not they were homosexual. She is not homosexual but is tolerant of those who are, but there are those who can’t seem to see the difference somehow.

You seem to be making assumptions about those kids “who have beliefs” as opposed to being homophobic, as many of them have actually clearly demonstrated.

“… kids “who have beliefs” as opposed to being homophobic ….”

High school kids are going through a normal-though-awkward period in their psycho-sociological development. To dump a heavy, loaded question on them — such as, “Do you support same-sex marriage? — can force them into a very uncomfortable position in front of all their classroom friends (and enemies). Of course many are going to go with the faux-but-”safe" response and say, No, out of fear of being “exposed” as gay themselves.

You just have to be patient , Mark. Who knows, maybe you’re NOT gay and the right woman will come along soon.

I enjoy the reruns of Buffy on logo. I can see folks like Nathan Fillion doing support work. Reruns on the comics are so a place for crybabies to vent.

The question could have been prefaced with: realizing that your own sexual preference is irrelevant, what is your opinion of same sex marriage? But even then I am sure a lot of kids would have been too afraid to support same sex marriage. Still, maybe it would have been a step in the right direction, since one doesn’t have to be gay or straight to support or oppose same sex marriage.

That’s the problem doing a strip that is so intertwined with current events. You can’t do reruns from 30 years ago because no one would understand. Well, some would understand but once it’s yesterday’s news, no one is interested. So the reruns when Trudeau goes on vacation are so recent everyone remembers them pretty quick. I got an old Doonesbury collection from when the Watergate scandal hit. It’s pretty interesting. Maybe run those old strips, Garry.

Not possible. Trudeau did that strip in advance of the debate.

Geah, doesn’t Mark think before he calls someone in the middle of the night?

At leftwing, think I got the link fixed from yesterday didn’t have the preferences set right, kind of lost the impact with the FUBAR.
