I wondered at Weenus’ frazzled appearance also and asked Jon Lemon – “Rabbits” cartoonist. He replied:
“Weenus has always been a character who has grown progressively weary of the realities of the world. If you read back into the archives, you’ll notice he’s the only character who drinks alcohol. He’s also keenly aware of his diminutive size and optical disability, hence his disenfranchisement. I wish I could give you a better answer but the truth is I had a long chat with the fine folks at Universal|Uclick about the overall direction of the strip a few months back and they asked me to develop the characters so that they become more individual. One obvious way to show that was to change their visual appearances, hence the frayed toaster cord. I hope it hasn’t been too much of a leap for you.”

Is this a dig at an actual brand? Or a play on words? I don’t get it. I only use Dollar Store “Assured” brand floss.

Why is Weenus all frazzled? Looks like he’s been that way for a month or two. Did something untoward happen?
