Yah, attention-junkies usually don’t have a clue. So long as they go on makin’ big ol’ donkeys of themselves, I’m free to live my life of stress-free, book-reading calm, here in green, restful Oregon. (Ohhhhhmmmmm)

First of all, more Katy…..after that, I love books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The sound of the turning of a page, the sound when you close it to go to the bathroom. The subtle creek of the binding when you open it up again… Books are one of the best inventions ever….I can slice my own bread thank you…

Oh Oh, this raises the possibility of Danae going out of her way, to be good…Pretty scary if you ask me…I just hope Jeffrey doesn’t get hurt…

Vonne Anton…Man you guys are kinky….I love it…..The smell, yes. especially really old ones. I read the Dave Dawson series, written in the 40’s….in the 60’s……I can still remember the smell….and the musicals my mom would play on Sundays….

I think God invented books late on Saturday, and then took Sunday off to read them….Hell, that’s what I’d do if I were God…

Kindles, et.al. will probably replace books at some time in the future. Until then, I’ll hoard as many as I can. Reading the Hardy Boys and Chip Hilton, then discovering Tolkien in college! With a book you can refer back to a page, quote or map easily. And yes there is a special feel, sound and smell to books. But who closes a book when they go to the bathroom?

Sort of depends on the book – would Mein Kampf get the same result?

So, what happened to dad being engaged to Victoria(?)? Did that fall by the wayside? Are they in one of those perpetual engagements?

I have some books from my days in high school. There’s an emotional attachment to something that represents not only its comtent but the memories of holding THAT book and where I was when I first read it, and what was going on at THAT time.

I also like not having to be aware of battery life or keping up with the latest electronic whizbang to be able to read it. I enjoy haunting used book stores and spelunking for some forgotten treasure. There’s nothing like a good old book.

Wiley: Has there been a change in policy that cartoons for all days of the week can be drawn with colors other than just black and white?

Although I have a Kindle Fire and can also read books on my laptop, nothing can replace the feeling of reading and holding a real book, turning real pages and savoring the prose or poetry on a printed page.

Didn’t Wiley already do this type of arc before? Where Danae tries to be invisible by being good, only to explode emotionally when she can’t keep up the charade?

Danae will read and read and read in order to acquire invisibility but will comprehend nothing… nor disappear.

So being good makes you invisible. So if Danae reads a book, and is good….. she will become invisible..Danae will like being invisible. It will allow her to sneak around and do all the nefarious things she wants to do, like Take Over the World!…. but...If she does nefarious things, then she is bad. If she is bad, then Danae is no longer invisible…. so how did she become invisible?

Gokie5: Depends on the book. I have a bathroom book, a bedroom book and a table magazine or paper. Sometimes interchangeable. My wife can’t see how I can keep track of what I’m reading. She has to start and finish one before she moves on to another. Oh, and another book in the car if I forget to take one to the doctor’s office.

Amazing comic. And I love the pro-book comments. I’m working on 40 something years without TV, try to read 100 books a year, read to my wife while she’s cooking, and love books as physical objects (no, I don’t own a Kindle). You go, Kate!

I SO understand your comment. I love reading books but there are so many demands on my time. Miss books, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, etc. Sigh…
