Jeff’s so like Jay Gatsby in F.Scott Fitzgerald’s masterwork “The Great Gatsby” I’ll wager Trudeau got his inspiration from reading it.

A basic airhead like Jeff getting lucky and then blowing it? It was as predictable as the sunrise. Well, Jeff, tomorrow always seemed to take care of itself for you up to now . . . let’s see if it continues.`BTW: Now that it’s apparent that Jeff doesn’t have another book in him, I believe his book publicist, Becca Bickle, is about to show another side of her personality, and it’s not going to be nice.

It takes months to evict only if the property in question is a shanty that no one much wants to begin with. A multi-million dollar beach-front property? They’d soon send in the National Guard to evict if that what it took.

Hey LWP— thanks for your work for the prez. Sorry he let us down at the first debate, but we have no way of knowing what may have been going on behind the scenes, as I see it. I hope you are enjoying life as a Dem in Navy Blue NY, as it is sometimes a challenge here in Crimson Red KS. That being said, even though I see GOP to the right, to the left, in front and in back, I don’t see very many Romney signs. I only see a few Obama signs, and even fewer for Romney. The 3rd debate should be interesting. I see where Issa has actually pulled a stunt on politicizing what happened in Libya. Let us hope that the people can stay safe after Issa’s shenanigans.

Hey Red & Monkey, here’s one for you:“The Tiki Bar Is Open”
[Chorus:]Thank God the tiki bar is openThank God the tiki torch still shinesThank God the tiki bar is openCome on in and open up your mind
On a leave of absenceWith no resemblance to realityI felt like a rocket launched into the wild blue yonderBy the boys down at Kennedy.
Checked into His Majesty’s Court HotelWhere the sign said “praise his name”I was tired and alone I didn’t feel too wellBut I don’t think that he was to blame.
[Chorus]
Full moon over (Concert City/State)Full moon in my mindAnd my sun tan dream is still out of reachAnd the strip malls are robbing me blind
Well his name was Captain Adam TroyAnd he sailed the “Kon-Tiki”Now the captain’s gone but he won’t be forgottenNor his likes will we ever see
[Chorus]
Well a drink ain’t no solutionBut it can calm your fearsAnd if that tiki bar closes down tonightWell I just might dissappear
[Chorus 2x]

I hope voters in California are paying attention to Issa, who just outed some folks in Libya who are on the side of the US. This guy is unbelievable. So, it isn’t just the crazies in Kansas and Missouri and other places who have issues, but some of us seem to have more than our share.
DoctorDan about 12 years ago
Dylan – Your comment surprises me, as you’re always one of the more thoughtful contributors. Were you being facetious? Of course there’s a need to vary one’s perspective beyond one’s own identity. If you can’t or choose not to, your own personal reasons for taking a given position – no matter how trivial or petty those reasons may be – will always seem to be the only reasons that matter. It is only when you try to see things from another person’s perspective that you can sometime see that they have valid reasons for taking their opposing position, and that, in fact, their reasons may be objectively more compelling than yours.

Old story. Instant rapid fame; rapid, balloon-like ego growth; followed by a meteoric crash. One does not have to read great literature to copy this plot. All you need to do is pay attention to the news.
kaffekup about 12 years ago
No, it can’t be a dream; Jeff’s dreams are consistently about how wonderful he is. This is too close to dreary reality. His problem is that he should have been in Afghanistan getting more material for another book, and now fighting season is over.
Spaghettus1 about 12 years ago
Jeff wasn’t very smart. The first thing he should have bought was a politician…the kind who can pull strings and stop a foreclosure.

Kansas state school board has gone back and forth in recent years in terms of whether or not to teach creationism. In 2007, they apparently rebuffed the decision to teach it as alternative theory, upon some research which I just now looked into. Sorry, I’m not as up on some of the KS state school board as I should be, but few of us are. I also don’t think they are as relevant as some would imagine. In larger suburban districts and urban districts, things are often done a little differently from those in rural districts.

I think it’s generally a good idea to try to see the other guy’s side, if only so I can discount it from a point of knowledge. In a debate, it’s always a good idea to try to understand the contrary argument, particularly if you’re trying to change somebody’s mind (whether your opponent’s or a third-party’s).
montessoriteacher about 12 years ago
I hope Romney redacts some of his talking points tonight. We don’t need any more of our operatives in Libya outed…
montessoriteacher about 12 years ago
Obama has been completely upfront about what happened in Libya. Romney wants to politicize the tragedy. Too bad the GOP couldn’t have taken a tip from the Dems on how to behave, such as what happened after 9/11. The Dems were not out to politicize 9/11, even though it happened on Bush’s watch.
