Baldo by Hector D. Cantú and Carlos Castellanos for December 11, 2009
Transcript:
Gracie: Baldo, can you help me with my studies? Baldo: Of course, lil sis! Baldo: Never say I'm not a kind and caring brother. Gracie: "Why is the speed of light considered a universal constant?" Baldo: If I do your work for you, you won't learn anything.

Oh, come on. That’s easy. It’s because light never speeds up or slows down.

Good way to weasel out of that one, Baldo!

Whoa - he must be really low on brain cells, I know that one and your average table is better at math and science than I am!

But does your head light travel faster than your tail light?
Or in this case, “tale light” and NOt head lice

Actually, edcole, light DOES slow down.
When you run light through a prism, it slows down just enough that when the light hits the other face of the prism, the colors that make up white light separate.
Thank you, Magic School Bus!

Tia Carmen influenced Baldo, whether he realizes it or not.

Hey Desmond, I found my constant!

gracielle; you would do better to google it than ask baldo

Consider:
– ∂2Bz = ∂2Ey . ∂x2 ∂x∂t and –∂2Bz =∂2Ey , ∂t2 ∂x∂t or
∂2Bz –∂2Bz= 0. ∂t2 ∂x2
‘nuff said!

186,000 mps.
It’s not just a good idea. It’s the LAW.

The speed of light in a vacuum is considered a constant (and the fastest possible speed) because assuming it isn’t introduces a number of contradictions and inconsistencies into physics. I have a marvelous and elegant proof of this, but this typing box isn’t big enough to contain it.
