Did I see Leaky here on yesterday’s forum?Wow… welcome back, Leaky!!Got here too late to say anything… but hope you’re coming by today, too. Have a seat….stick around…. we’ve been waiting for ou!
Larry, I’d agree…. if Burl didn’t have such a long-armed view of what “hangs over” on his side.
One more…. and that next one almost touches it…and … that… part of the next branch aaalmost comes to my …. well…. ok … whew! There’s another…and I can just …ooof…reach..those… Half the tree is probably bare now.
But the neighbor can’t use Burl’s fence.He said so…
That means the only one fenced off the adjoining property is Burl. The neighbor can just walk on around to the Penny’s side and take back his fruit. No fence for him.Howja like them apples, Burl?
Of course, Burl is right, but he just has this WAY about him that makes you want to take a power hedge clipper to him. Susan’s right, too. Burl’s arms are really, really long. (The only long thing about him!)
Must be a dwarf tree… as it is completely covered by the speech balloon…. No apples on PENNY’s side…. Any way the answer to the question “Are you nuts ?”…. is YES…! ! !
My orange tree is in the front yard and the neighbors kids love to peel and eat tthem. We were just talking about it yesterday -the warmer fall has them ripening very slowly. The kids and I decided they’re almost ready. All I ask them is that they leave some that I can reach (that pole thing is a pain)! .I don’t generally share the grapefruit in the back yard (except with the neighbor whose yard it overhangs on the rear). That is healthier for me so I eat everyday that I can. I’ll be gone for much of the season and may put one or 2 in my carry on if room remains.
thank goodness my neighbor and I share all the bounty, they have a fig tree, blueberries, and basil, I have green beans, tomatoes and a cherry tree. We freely “poach” from each other! I agree, the fence looks way too nice to “belong” to the Penneys.

What would Burl want with an apple, anyway? They’re all healthy and junk.
missjunebug about 12 years ago
Are you sure that is Burl’s fence? Look at the way it is constructed.

I know you all hate word problems but…
If Burl wants to put up a 100 ft fence with post every 10 ft, how many posts does he buy on the first trip to the hardware store?
How many on the second?

Then next year, when they want to make it ten feet longer, they remember that…. and buy eleven.
