    (I always have to remind myself that this is pre-Annie…my first thought is still “Stay home with the kid..” then I remember…there’s no kid….sniffle.)

    Cordless phones don’t work when the power is off (the base station gets power from an outlet), but corded phones might, because they get power from the phone line, and the phone co. has batteries and generator backups (might not apply when the power is out over too-wide an area, however – like parts of NYC and NJ after Sandy). If, like me, your cable co is also the phone provider, even corded phones will only work as long as the battery backup in the cable co. converter box lasts.

    Knowing these are older strips, but not knowing how far back they go….I just took them for old cell phones.LOL, John…. had you not admitted the goof I never would have known.

    Actually, my cell phone worked fine after the power went out, for a few hours. After that, I think the battery in the cell tower ran out, so my phone stopped working.Oddly enough, the phone could still connect to the Internet, so I sent my wife an email to let her know I was still alive.
