This is cute, but may lead to trouble…I recently sat on a jury in a felony rape case where the purp claimed he had “Consent” because of the texts (over 3000 of them, some of them explicit) he and the victim had exchanged. This guy was a hunk, the girl a cutie, but the end result wasn’t happy at all. Watch out, kids!

That’s it Quill, keep the old folks at home straight!
Angelalex242 almost 12 years ago
I really don’t think there’s anything to worry about. Till 8k miles away becomes 0, I think we’re good.

Who has time to be in bed already at 11:30?
Angelalex242 almost 12 years ago
Hey, Maybe Mr. Dergroot wonders if there’s some new fangled computer addition that can put his daughter in a…delicate condition

God….that look so familiar. The guy who manufactures stuff for my business is in Pakistan and I’m in California.
Every time we communicate by Yahoo Instant Messenger, it’s either real late or real early for one of us!

I bet Quill’s parents are thinking the same thing with a girl in their son’s room. (@Spazoid: I used to do Y! IM as well with a girl from Hawaii while I was here in Washington State.)

Next will come the ’you’re not old / mature to handle a relationship’ lecture. Sell it to Brad…

I concur. She’s showing Quill her knickers.

None of this applied when I was young, but trust me, my mom totally had the last say on who I hung out with and what I wore. She was never physical, but I definitely feared that woman and wouldn’t go behind her back. Parents have it so much harder now with the technology, but I think it’s good that they are addressing the issue right away. At least they are there and concerned about what their teenage daughter is doing. I know a lot of single women who are “best friends” with their teenage daughters and I think it’s much more important to guide than to be best friends and share clothes. Yes, I know that I am about to be crucified. Bring it on, just know that I will not play with you and lambasting me will only result in your venting because I will not answer you, it’s just my opinion.

8000 miles? The direct route would be a bit of a bore. Most of us would settle for a slightly longer one, say a few thousand feet above the ground…

Ummm, Quill, is it a good idea to argue with the girl’s dad? But, here’s a thought…Dad doesn’t like “a boy in the room”, Luann goes to sit in the kitchen. But, I’m with Mrs. D, although when she says “can’t”, does she mean “forbidden” or just “not a wise choice”?
The Old Wolf almost 12 years ago
Would it be OK if it were a phone call? Quill and Luann spent lots of time in her room together, alone, doing songwriting. What’s the difference here? It’s not like this is some unknown stranger she met in a chat room… it’s Quill, for Mogg’s sake. I think the DeGroots need to lighten up.
Sisyphos almost 12 years ago
Part of the problem is that Nancy and Frank think 11:30 is too late for Luann to be awake and “playing” on school nights. I think after a moment they will acknowledge that Quill is not in the room, though they may still be uneasy over the potential degree of intimacy that could occur (sexting). Will they cut Luann off from Quill completely? I think not, but they may impose some restrictions on future calls.
Jacqueline.Gomes almost 12 years ago
I like how Quill is being so casual and speaking up for Luann :)

I think it meant: “minimum 6 inches between you at all times.”.….and in the late ’60’s, our school had a VP who gave out detentions if you so much as held hands with your GF/BF on the way to and from school! He even sent out teachers on patrol around the neighbourhood at lunch time. Still didn’t prevent pregnancies, of course.
Angelalex242 almost 12 years ago
In the late 60’s…well, that was hippieville, and all efforts were pretty much in vain then.

Other than 11:30 PM, her parents should be glad she isn’t in the buff.
jenbrown1017 almost 12 years ago
I think Luann in wearing t-shirt and shorts first off….and secondly, mom is mainly worried about her getting enough sleep. Dad is just a dork! LOl

Mr. Degroot should be glad Luann doesn’t sleep in the nude.

She’s wearing a pajama set with shorts. Not just a shirt!

The parallels between Luann’s folks and Jim and Cindy Walsh from the original Beverly Hills 90210 TV series were never more apparent…..

Right on, Vegasgirl!
jadoo823 almost 12 years ago
…don’t know what their problem is – if her boyfriend is 8000 miles away, it eliminates a LOT of consequences…it may open up some other can of worms, but it won’t include pregnancy or STD’s or physical domestic violence….
David Huie Green LoveJoyAndPeace almost 12 years ago
Physically, Quill’s not in the room, but in his heart, he’s all over it.
Raygun almost 12 years ago
Fact is that Luann is underage and Quill (assuming he’s older) could be labeled a sexual predator if he’s not careful. But if everything is innocent it’s okay. Everything is being monitored and they should know that – especially overseas communications of ANY kind.

The dad should say only in the living room or dining room. She’s got a laptop, she can put it anywhere…

@vegasgirl – you have the right sow by the ear. My mother was my very good friend after I was an adult, and my daughter, now an adult, is now a very good friend. What children need is parents, and adults need to see that they get that. It’s not as if it takes a long time for them to grow up – those eighteen years or so just flash by …

Why all the HEE-hee-Hee ?? .What was going on? Something good I hope.

Don’t knock her knickers!^^…Or knick her knockers! (Sorry, couldn’t resist! )
Mikeyj almost 12 years ago
Sadly, too many do. The mom who forces her daughter to compete in beauty contests, or the ex-jock dad pushing his son to out-do him in sports, etc.^^My Dad tried to do that to me, only to find out that I was less than an athlete; later I found that I loved to play hockey and I wasn’t bad at it, but, I only played for fun, no organized sports for me. (I wish I could still play, but, there’s no way I could with my bad back)
Mordock999 almost 12 years ago
Well, back in the ‘day’ MOST chicks I knew dug the guy that played the guitar. Maybe ole Franko played a cool Fender Stratocaster or something.
Personally, I think Nancy just took pity on Frank.,,,,Especially after her third boyfriend “Mysteriously” died…..,
Mordock999 almost 12 years ago
“Died in Vietnam” Nancy says. Sometimes I WONDER what kind of “Combat” those guys REALLY Died" in…..,

It might be fun to see an “alternative-universe” version of Luann where all of the characters are dipicted as living in a 1952 setting.

So, do you people finally believe that Quill is not really down the street?
Snoopy_Fan almost 12 years ago
Dad has the right idea…Quill might try to insert something into Luann’s USB port…
Asharah almost 12 years ago
Honestly, I think a majority of teenagers probably have trouble falling asleep before 2am. Something to do with all the chemical & physical changes in their bodies. Which is why they wind up half-asleep in class and sleep all weekend.
Angelalex242 almost 12 years ago
Those USB insertions…he might have some special software to download that way. Might even create a new core program.
mik1of3 almost 12 years ago
I love Dad’s comment…sounds totally like my husband. And he wouldn’t care that the guy was 8,000 miles away either…he’s STILL in her room.
