Just how violent can one get with a teddy bear as a weapon?
Can the experts prove that a parent ‘snooty about violence’ actually caused their child….15 years later…to run out, buy a gun, and harm someone? It’s how this woman handles her son NOW ‘because of’ his violence that will help determine how he will behave in the future.
I had every toy gun I could get my hands on as a kid (and growing up in the 60’s that’s quite a list) but I have never owned the real thing and have only fired a gun (at targets) a handful of times. Toys don’t predispose kids to violence, violent adult role models do.
A person who wants to kill someone will find some way to do it even if a gun is not available. The “Guns Don’t Kill People. People Kill People” bumper stickers are right. Cain found a way to kill Able and there weren’t any guns around then. A person with violence in his heart will find some way to let that out. When I was a kid a neighbor killed his wife with a hammer. He had violence in his heart and no gun handy. The point is: it’s not about the weapon, it’s about the person.
Teach a kid to hunt and fish. They have to learn to clean their kill(you kill it, you eat it). Once a child sees the damage and experiences that, he/she will never want to do that to a person
What you really need is a machine gun. Then you can kill as many rabbits, ducks, pheasants. and deer as you please. Killing is so much fun, isn’t it?I would have killed them too, if any had ever threatened me.

@gmartin997: That’s not Michael. That is Annie’s son Christopher.
@sjsczurek: Nice “Alice’s Restaurant” reference. Thanks for the memory.
When my son was growing up, I wasn’t anti-violence. He had toy soldiers and other “war” toys. What he didn’t have was toy hand guns. Hand guns are for killing people. Other than target practice at a shooting range, that’s what they were designed for.
Kids will use anything! We haven’t bought a toy gun for our son so he uses handles and whole brooms for his “gun play”. He does have a BuzzLightyear laser gun but he says it’s not the same.

I taught my Sunday School class how to make Christmas Trees out of newspapers once. The boys immediately took to sword fighting with them.

Who knew a stuffed toy monkey was capable of such violence?!?

Knew a woman who told me she did not believe in guns. Sadly, the guy who killed her did.

Listen, gun nuts. When stuffed animals are outlawed, only outlaws will have stuffed animals.
