You know Olivia Newton-John and Jane Fonda look REALLY good for their ages. I’m sure there is some work done but both contribute their overall fitness to their workouts.
I remember owning some exercise clothes INCREDIBLY similar to that in 1985… only mine was peacock blue. And I didn’t have the striped tights. Oh, 1985…..
Ironically, leg warmers came back into style over the past couple of years, but for wear with jeans and boots, not exercise. They are very popular among figure skaters like me for practical purposes; I try to find the kind that will stretch over the heel and toe of my skate boot as they provide an extra layer of warmth, especially when I teach my adult beginners as a seasonal rink that is not fully enclosed.
Women of a certain age should NEVER wear suits with such a high leg cut (tho’ some of the mesh swimsuits I wear in my own pool are cut rather high). And leg warmers? no way! I wear silk long johns for winter workouts and a mesh suit in summer because usually noone sees me (unless I Skype).
I exercise in the privacy of my home. I wear sweats and T-shirts (long- or short-sleeved depending upon the season), and always have. No way would I ever wear anything else.
From yesterday: “Basic” means when the instructor yells, and those of a certain type always yell, “burpee”, you know you’re going to learn that it’s not a seed catalog.
I bought my first The Firm DVD last year. First and last.
FYI Jane Fonda admitted that she had lypo and stomach tightening and during her “workout” days she was anorexic and bulimic at the same time. Right now in her 70’s she even said that she had everything tightened and filled and lifted up lightly, because she she wants to look like her own self of her “50’s” She has also admitted that her good looks are part of her genes, and difficult to achieve just by working out. It was all out there in her latest memoir book.
Connie wears it well with just the leotard. Unless Elly is doing aerobics in a cold building, it does not make much sense for her to have tights, legwarmers and a headband.

I agree that Elly looks 100% ridiculous.

She has a point.

Ellie has no fashion sense. Only a dork would put on the mismatched colors she’s wearing.

Ah, yes…aerobics. I still have my Kathy Smith aerobic videotapes kicking around here somewhere…

My question is: Why had Elle’s friend got Elle looking like she does while the friend is looking so good? What kind of a friend is she?

Now we can see where the fat is that they’re always complaining about.

Why is she wearing a beret in the first panel and a scarf tied around her head in the last one?

It’s worse than serious, Elly. It’s tragic.

It might not be quite so bad if she lost the striped tights.
