I ventured out on Black Friday because I needed a new washer and they were on sale. It wasn’t too bad. Everyone was fighting over the big TVs. Washing machines aren’t glamorous

Essex…. did you come round the turn?

I posted to you at the last second of yesterday, inviting you to the Tiki….in case you didn’t see it…. please stop by if you can!

Hope you don’t mind this… it’s for Beviek…Is this what you were trying to do, Bev?

Can’t stay up too late…. I’ve been doing too much and I need some sleep….

(Of course, if I only had a nickel for every time I’ve said that a few hours before dozing off in my chair at 3am…)

But I’m SOOOO glad to be able to get to Ballard St from here…I have to get a connecting bus first, but at least, here I am!Gotta get over to the Tiki and make sure the night crew is all right…Grind a few Daiquiris if anybody’s waiting….

Any music going on tonight?Anybody up for a friendly brew?A wee dram?A chat by the fire?

    Bev… cool.

Hey, about Orin….I know we disagree a little…but I’m not so fast to condemn other people’s back yards….Live and let live, I say. It’s not a public nuisance …

no one even knows about it who isn’t snooping.

Besides, if a few appliances keep him happy…we won’t see another embarrassing incident like when he crashed the ladies’ bridge club and drum corps meeting last April…..

You remember…. when Sarah May Jenkins wore that Majorette get-up with the big silver buttons…and Orin tried to twist her knobs…

    Bri…. gosh, I don’t know..washing machines gratefully accepted here… for Christmas, my birthday, even Valentine’s Day…

Especially if it comes with space to put it.I tried to buy some extra space at a garage sale…they had plenty in the garage…but it wouldn’t fit into my car.

How do you warm yours up?Mine doesn’t turn on till I breathe through it

    Monkey!

Are you sleeping?I don’t wanna wake you up…. but I’m not sure you could be asleep anyway in that position…..

    And I know you’re not on shift…

I’m sorry…. really…. but there’s a problem over on Speed Bump that could really use your attention.

BatPug or Inspector Canine could go…but you’d be much better able to speak to the perps.

Bev said to you earlier: “Hey, Essex i’m turning in now, but if you come back and hang at the Tiki Hut and find you want to stay overnight (the barstools are pretty uncomfortable after a few hours and even the booths aren’t conducive to a good nights sleep) you can stay in one of the guest rooms at my Carriage House. The key is under the flowerpot”+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++If, however, you would prefer to stay at Orin’s house, you’ll find the key hidden under his flower pot on the porch…

Perhaps Orin will show you the vacuum cleaner diaries… it’s a good read!

(By the way, let me know if you’d be interested in leasing a property on Ballard St. where you could stay when you’re in town!

I think happyathome has it, Orin is a retired Maytag repairman. I wonder is he has a small appliance roundup in the garage or basement. There are so many of those little gadgets.

In Ogden the main street is Washington Boulevard. There are a few laundramats on it. I’d like to see one of them re-named “Washing Machine Boulevard”.

sorta scared to admit it, but I think Orin might have an idea there…I talk to some of mine…to encourage them…I want them to know they are appreciated you know…I think if they know they are appreciated and not just needed, they will be like a horse and form a bond of sorts with you…I wont jinx it by saying how old my appliances are, but they were not new when I moved here 12 years ago….

Take a left onto Ballard St. Western Extension, and then your second left….

I believe there are some properties available for lease there. I’ll have Mel O’Dell check out the listings on Monday.

My lover has given me many practical gifts (water heater, programmable thermostat and the best – RED Kitchenaide mixer with all the stuff it had at the time). He has also gifted me lovely jewelry and lingerie. Both are appreciated and I still LOVE the mixer (the lingerie has worn out but I still love the jewelry too).

Actually there’s plenty. It’s about 50 gallons when full…. not done every night, of course…

But even if there was only 10 gallons, when I break it down for the night I can scrape a quart or so from the blades and the space underneath them.

On a really slow night, or if neither the Monkey nor I is around, they do use regular grinders, well, professional size from Costco….usually 5 or 6 going at once.

OH…. and Bri and others….in re naming a laundromat Washing Machine Boulevard…Since there are several laundromats on it…. why not rename the street:Washing Tons Boulevard.

It always feels like tons when I go to the laundromat.

Takes forever, so I don’t want to do it … so I wait another week,,,, and there’s MORE stuff.

The more laundry, the less I want to go to the laundromat….. when the pile threatens to become sentient, I drag it in….

And Bev … I never saw a kid purposely open a washing machine in use…. but I DID see the door to one open by itself.

I was sitting in one of those rickety chairs when I noticed water coming out of a machine across from me… seemed to be from the bottom of the big round glass door…then it flew open and a flood of water and wet sleeping bags poured out.Big mess.

I think it was overloaded…. it had about six bags in it, and they must have bumped the door.Silly people were running away… like one machine could flood the building…..I pounded on the office door… luckily someone was in there…He saw it and started panicking and yelling at me (thinking it was mine) when a couple of college kids came in and started yelling at HIM cos it was their stuff….

Almost but not quite funny scene.Anyway… I don’t think those machines were as secure as they should have been… Maybe new ones are better,
