Anyways, now that Shannon has made a list and checked it twice of every annoying thing a kid might possibly say…she should then proceed to sit on Santa’s lap and tell her what an excellent good girl she’s been all year.

Shannon:I’ve been VEWY good this year, Santa!Brad&Toni:Fall over laughing

Mall Santa:.oO(I totally do not get paid enough for this)

Be in the moment. Leave the books and phones at home. The trouble with this kid, though, is that there are no moments of cuteness to offset the aggravation.

If the child is a brat it is more than likely because someone spoiled her. Being around her can only give you the incentive to do better when you yourself have a child.

I was not a huge fan of Santa. Growing up in Chicago many year ago, I became suspicious when I saw Santa at all four of the then-major Loop department stores (Field’s, The Fair, Wieboldt’s, and Carson Pirie Scott). Even earlier, there was the family Christmas party at home where Santa looked suspiciously like an uncle….But, nonetheless, my advice for Brad is, just tough it out! You’ll be glad you did in the long run….

The child welfare folks will never understand why you keep her chained to a cot in the basement. But when they take her they don’t take her home, oh no.

Shannon is cute, after all she comes from a very messed up situation. If Brad and Toni get married, and I think they will, guess who will end up raising her? Unless her dad sober’s up and becomes responsible all of a sudden. Don’t blame the baby, work with her to help her become better.

They should have brought a roll of duct tape. Don’t really need to use it . . . just the threat that it’s available to use is enough.

Game for today: They all are at the mall. So who will give what to whom for Christmas?*Toni will buy a ring for Brad.*Luann (bowling proxy for Quill) will buy herself bowling lessons as her present to him.*Rosa will buy Gunther membership to Toastmasters or tuition to a Dale Carnegie course.*Gunther will get Rosa a book of poetry and a pocket protector.*Brad and Toni will start giving Shannon lessons in empathy so she has less chance of growing up to engage in antisocial behavior— like being greedy or putting her own amusement before company policy, the law, and lives of others.*How to teach empathy? Ask her to think of others in fun ways. What will the cat do if you pull its tail? Why? How will Santa feel if you pull his beard? What will Santa then think of you?

That kid really needs to have Brad & Toni get married and adopt her ….. and then provide some discipline/training.

I firmly believe that most poor behavior in children can be traced to poor behavior in their parents. In this case, Shannon’s dad. Brad & Toni need to step up and be the role models she needs.

Mikey J, thanks for letting us in on all the work you go through to treat us to your drawings. In case other people missed it, here is your response from yesterday (he includes samples that don’t copy here in yesterday’s response:*There are times that I do draw the pics myself… I go to an online drawing board (http://www.onemotion.com/flash/sketch-paint/), then colour them with Microsoft paint, you can tell I drew them, because they are signed in orange:

    Photobucket

Now, sometimes I use online “Dollmaker” programs which feature cut outs to which you can custom build a character using a large selection of faces, eyes, clothes etc. to construct them… its one of these that I use to make South park type characters (http://www.sp-studio.de/) , these I do not sign, as I feel that I’m just building from a Kit of sorts, not my original work:

Nah, in this case Brad needs an mp3 player with Motley Crue or even Slayer blaring through the headphones.

I’m glad all our kids were old enough to behave when we met. We were just discussing that photo of our parents together at my Christmas table and decided it was 3 years after we met. The year before we celebrated with just his family (his 3 teens, and parents as well as ex-wife and her mother). That was interesting.

Yeah, I agree with Calvin0007. What Shannon lacks is serious discipline, which is why Luann is so great at handling her and Brad & Toni aren’t. “Shape up or ship out,” as my parents used to say.
