Soooo…. Gerald just brought Irma bak frum the Tiki wear they experienced there furst pictur of banner dakerys… Well, Gerald did…. Irma refused to partake… Sumthin about not eating ANY curved froot that munkys eat… (harumphh)… An now he’s hopin ta git lucky…. does he look lucky to yew???

I guess it’s too late to go visiting….I should just go back to the salon and have some hot chocolate…. maybe with just a drop of comfort…. I do keep a bit of brandy on hand ….for…um… you know…. fruitcake…. and when I have a cold….And I guess for when I’m locked out of the Tiki….

BTW…. forgot to say that when I first saw today’s strip, I truly thought Gerald’s “modest objective” was Irma.

One might think it a “modest” goal cos she’s already his wife (I assume!) and doesn’t seem to be out of his league…But it IS an “objective” nonetheless, cos she looks a little…. um…. let’s say “hard to persuade.”

After looking at it for a while I saw that he was, in fact, pointing at his shoelace.I’m glad he actually had an objective more within his reach.

The lighthouse shot was cool. My dad in WWII while in the Merchant Marines remembers having to go forward to the bow and break the ice off the crew member assigned to bow watch. He was frozen to the deck one trip. They would have to break the ice off as that ice is heavy and could capsize the boat.

Some people have to climb Mount Everest to find a challenge…but to other people, just getting out of bed is a challenge.And there are many who can’t get out of bed…. including those to whom every breath is a challenge.Never feel unworthy because what is easy for someone else is difficult for you.And never assume that because something is easy for you, it’s easy for everyone…

And please… don’t disdain small victories…yours or anyone else’s.

“I’m glad he actually had an objective more within his reach.” Susan, you’re too funny!! I can remember how hard I had to work to teach my toddlers to tie their own and also glad that my lover would never make a request that rudely!

Ditto to Essex! I’m trying to get my lover to make some videos that he and I will enjoy when (hopefully) we are in our 80s and more when some things are “different”.

I always take the bus here cos I don’t want to beat up my old Saturn over such a long distance…and I wouldn’t want to make a Hawk drive thousands of miles every day (!) either…

But I could sure drive around Ballard St in style if I had one of those!I could give rides to all who have been so kind in taking ME… and pass the favor forward as well…

OK…. I think this is my favorite, though it’s so close… how could anyone choose?

We’re getting our first big rainstorm of the season…. OK, bigger than the one they said a couple of weeks ago was our first one….but it wasn’t in this league, and then it went away.

A big rain after a dry spell always reminds you about things that shouldn’t be left in the rain….

Also did some cooking…. tomorrow is soup and banana bread day at the salon, anybody who wants to drop by!

Ok, did some Googling….

That is, believe it or not, the Cleveland Harbor West Pierhead Lighthouse… almost 2 years ago, mid-December 2010.

Not some exotic locale, not a fantasy castle…a working lighthouse (well, normally) in an urban harbor.

The weather was unusually cold, the waves on Lake Erie unusually high….You can watch it happen HERE …

The video has no voiceover to explain it, but it’s the only one I found.

Whoa… are these real Singapore Slings?

I usually avoid drinks with so many different liquors and flavors…but a real Singapore Sling with fresh pineapple juice and good liqueurs is a joy to behold.

Just never order one in a chain restaurant, local dive, or on the train or plane….the bottled mixes are revolting.

Essex….was it this one?

Cos that was my next choice…. I just went for the blue color, but I think they’re very similar cars.This one just has a more flattering photo…. closer, and light shining on the chrome… brings out the bumper detailing.

(First I thought it had a cream stripe all along the front fender, but I think it;s just the light.)

I’d have to compare more than color to actually choose one…. mechanical and cosmetic condition, engines and other specs, price, etc.And drive ’em.

Anyway, yeah, the ‘57 has the flash and the fins, but was still small…then they kinda started to grow…I have to say, though, that by now I think all the way through 61 they were still beautiful looking…. even some 62’s, though I used to bemoan the changes.

I guess 1962 looks more acceptably “vintage” to me now that it was 50 years ago!

Where did everybody GO?Am I supposed to eat all these banana s’mores by myself?

They’ve gotten cold… I like my s’mores warmm..mmmm….but hey….a liddle bi schtiky bu’ prddy drn good.

Wherg’s mu dring…OK, phew…. good stuff Monkey!(shhh…Not like the banana mashed potatoes or the banana and pepper jack cheese omelet he asked me to try last time… but he loves to cook for me so it’s OK.)
