The Born Loser by Art & Chip Sansom Brutus: Look at it come down! Our first blizzard of the year! Gladys: With all this snow, the roads are going to be treacherous! Gladys: I hope you remembered to put the snow tires on the car before the cold weather! Brutus: Well, to be honest with you, Gladys, it completely slipped my mind. Brutus: But the good news is I forgot to take them off the car last spring, so they're still on the car! Gladys: You are exasperating! You know that? Brutus: Wait, Gladys! Want to hear the good news about the storm windows and the Christmas lights?

Did you know they are naming blizzards this year?

Snow tires are beneficial only in loose snow. In winter one drives mostly on packed snow if not bare pavement, on either of which tires designed for smooth surfaces are safest. The biannual tire change is a racket.I posted a comment against seasonal gift-giving a moment ago and now this. I seem to be an iconoclast today.

Every year, on the first significant snow of the season, I’d find a big, empty parking lot and practice recovering from skids.I still remember my first behind-the-wheel driving lesson, which took place the day after a 7-inch snowfall.
