Girl: Yknow what, mom? Who needs all this glitz and excess? Let's just have a simple Christmas and donate our gifts to charity.
Miracle on 34th street.
I tried to have this conversation with my son last year at Christmas. He was ok with giving to charity all the stuff I was going to buy him because, as he put it, Santa was still going to bring him what he really wants anyway. Ahhh kids.
My daughter wrote 4 simple things she wanted for Christmas; all low-cost. She wants us to donate what we spent on her last year, this year. I hope she stays that way in heart for a long, long time.

Yet that’s what Christianity would expect of her. But if religions didn’t encourage hypocrisy, the believers would have died out centuries ago.

@pschearerYes, there is a hidden Pagan in all of us. I think we “go nuts” at Christmas to compensate for our insecurities .
