Coincidence, or did Tracy have an informant tell him that Bates was in town?

So, Belle has a friend named Harley, who has a boss named Mr. J. That couldn’t be Harley Quinn, the girlfriend/sidekick of the Joker?

Won’t Broadway be surprised to find out these caped caperers are hardly capable of crime!

A big surprise for us, but an even bigger surprise for Broadway (and Belle). Tracy is doing some proactive detective work here. Can he nip their nefarious plot in the bud, and maybe round up the two costumed clowns, too?

Not exactly a “welcome back” is it Broadway? Hey, what’s to fear? He’s just “some local cop.” Yeah, right…..

I think it’s just a coincidence, Dick seems surprised at seing Broadway, also. Wonder why he’s there?

Hoorah! We got a Sunday strip on Sunday! ;)

Is it just me, or does Belle remind one of Millie the Model or Josie (of Pussycats fame)?

I hate to come across as a nitpicker, but Belle’s barrettes have intrigued me from the first time I saw them, and today they have changed to the same color as her hair.

Mirror, mirror, on the vanity What’s with this costumed insanity? Now Belle designs a skin-tight suit To aid Broadway in stealing loot. Who’s that knocking; who’s come a-calling? Detective Tracy whose presence is galling To Broadway Bates, the counterfeiter, and Belle, his moll, with legs that suit her. As Tracy knows of the duo’s nest, they’d best leave town, for he won’t rest Until they’ve fled or been tossed in jail To regret their folly, suffer and wail.

I’m getting really sick of all these “in-joke” references. Yes, we get it already: This is the Penguin’s brother.

And I’m even more sick of those of you readers who feel the need to respond to every in-joke with posts telling us what the in-jokes and references mean. You don’t have to do that, because there are only five people on this planet who don’t know who Harley Quinn et al. are, and those five people aren’t reading this comic.

Stagger Lee, please don’t think I’m singling you out. It’s everybody here who’s doing this. Just because the strip contains a really obvious reference to some character from another franchise, that doesn’t mean you all need to immediately post links and pics to that character.

Yes, we get it. This strip is referencing characters from other franchises, and doing so in a way that is so lacking in subtlety, you’d have to be brain damaged not to pick up on it. Oh boy, how fun and clever!

Flight Suit, I’m one of the 5 that didn’t know who Harley was and I DO read the strip and I DO appreciate someone pointing things out. When I did read comic books (for over 60 years), they were Marvel, not many DC.

Nice work today by Joe Staton. I enjoy the details, like Belle’s reflection in the mirror (twice), the way the hands are drawn, the panel showing Tracy knocking on the door. I love this strip so much.

Oh boy! Belle is working on a new costume! As with most, if not all, female superheros, and villianesses, it will show plenty of skin!

so far this story has been quite the stretch… i dont know broadway bates from adam, and it a bit too much of a “swerve” type storyline. if it was simply broadway and belle as the story it woudl be fine, but the whole black p and cinnamon knight angle throws it off for me. these two should be separate stories in my opinion. andiw ould LOVE to find out how tracy knew broadway was back in town… maybe he has eyes at the train station…. or maybe its PUTTY PUSS in disguise since the last time we saw tracy he was at home reading the paper and talking to joe :)

I like how Staton draws Bates — very true to early-Gould art style. The last panel demonstrates how talented he is, mixing the old with the new. Very cool strip today from Team Tracy.

Hmmm…It seems Broadway’s “other city” may have been Seattle.

Isn’t that where the Rain City Superhero Movement has been operating?

Don’t care about the complainers – I love the story, love the art, and can’t wait to see what’s going to happen when the Black Pirhana and Cinnamon Knight find themselves playing cops and robbers with real cops and robbers!

In my comment today I said nothing derogatory about the strip or any of the commenters. I just pointed out some of the clues to Batman in the strip. How else would Mike and team know people caught them unless someone said something about them?

In the panel that Ray Toler posted, the list of charges that Tracy mentions does not include counterfeiting. Does anyone know if counterfeiting was a part of Broadway’s original story, or are Mike and Joe telling us that is something he got into “off screen”?

For those of you who posted information about “Harley Quinn”, thank you. It was something I did not know, so I appreciate your help. Now I get the reference. I do hope that Mike and Joe won’t go TOO far with that kind of thing. But a few inside references are fun.

Can I use the word “Canuck”, or would that be race baiting ? ^^It’s kind of funny, originally, “Canuck” was a word Americans used to try and make fun of us, but, we turned it around, cause we LIKE it! ahahaha So, call us Canuck, if you like ;)
