I wonder sometimes if anyone reads the previous comments before posting their own. They might notice that several other people already took care of fixating on the lettering mistake.
Okay, we caught the typo. Now- can anyone name all the people on their way to see The Hobbit in this panel? There’s at least one that might be unfair, since he rarely appears.
Hobbits have no special speech quirks. They’re the characters the reader is meant to identify with, and their speech is the most down to earth and everyday. Nobody told Rankin/Bass that when they had the hobbits say flowery lines they would never speak.
You want condensed- each Gene Deitch’s 12 minute HOBBIT animated film. He eliminated the Dwarves entirely, replacing them with three companions: a soldier (named Thorin Oakenshield!) a watchman, and a princess whom Bilbo ends up married to!
Saw the midnight show this morning – got home at 4:00 am and then slept in and went to work for 1/2 day. I have a GREAT boss :o) LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! Sorry boys, but I even loved it more than this cartoon (but this does come close) :o)
i can make out most of the characters but don’t know their names the first one of course is Roy followed by his girl friend then comes the tall blond guy and the office manager who has more magic than Gandalf, then comes the cute secretary(?) with the short skirt, followed close by, by the black guy and the intern(?) the last two I can’t make out because the shading blends them into the back ground. Nice picture of New Zealand though

Ah well. There’d be fewer typos if we if we were further ahead of schedule and I weren’t always lettering in a in a rush.

Jay’s comment reminds of the episode of “Family Guy” when Chris asks why didn’t the Fellowship of the Ring just fly the eagles to Mt. Doom.

If you’re hand-lettering (which it looks like), it’s a grapho, not a typo. <grin!>
And it’s still a great strip!

I always wondered about that, Stoic, but then that wouldn’t have been much of a story then, would it ?

While my local Cineplex has IMAX I’m opting for the HFR with Dolby Atmos that has up to 64 speakers. Gotta leave now for my return to middle earth.

Just got back from The Hobbit. Won’t go into a whole review here and now, but let’s just say I was pleased.
