This one had me laughing out loud – because it may be right!Really, did YOU ever try to make one of those things work? When you’re Danae’s size (as I was, a hundred years ago), it does not work. Ever. No matter what you see on TV.Come to think of it, remember how commercials used super close-ups to make things look HUGE and then when you bought them, they were an inch tall?Hmmm, Wiley, you may have figured out the whole generation!

Alexikakos = fun link, thanks. Hula hoops were fun, and pretty good exercise. Just because some people couldn’t get the hang of them is no reason to put them down.

Back then, the 14-year-old girl across the street could spin three hula hoops at one time, plus do a yo-yo in each hand. Believe it or don’t. And that girl today is …

I literally laughed out loud when I read this cartoon today! I was one of many of my friends who was good at the hula hoop, but sure couldn’t do it today. I didn’t realize it took skill to do it because it just came so easily when I was a kid. But my mother=who was a master at everything it seemed to me= never could work it and that is what gave me such joy at the time!

All of our grandkids have those electronic noise boxes, but when they come to spend the weekend with us, they always go to the toy closet and get out the wooden train set and spread it out on the floor.

Hula hooping seems to be alive and well in some areas of the country much to my recent surprise. One of my old girlfriends from high school is very much into, “hooping” for fun and fitness.

… it’s good exercise! I could “do” the hula hoop, loved the super ball, a toy (I can’t remember the name of) that had a ring around one ankle that we twirled a thing around and jumped over with the other foot. It was fun. My favorite, though, was my pogo stick… I could do several hundreds (literally) of jumps on that thing.

Ha ha, I was just wondering how many of us adults spend any amount of time outside or exercising our imaginations . . . or if we’re in front of a tv or a computer in our free time. It’s easy to point the finger at someone else and forget that we’re probably not living up to our own standards.

Hula Hoops were huge because of the exotic place called Hawaii where lovely young women moved their hips and hands to tell a story. A lush wonderful friendly island s chain best known for Pearl Harbor until the HH and Jack Lord got a hold on it. Move those hips, Dano.
