When my brother and I were kids we took our snowdays from school and went out and shovelled people’s walks, yes, for money! To earn a bit of money rather than sitting at home watching game shows on TV. If the liberals had had their way we’d have been forced to “redistribute the wealth” so the lazy kids got the same amount we did when we worked for it. Go to other people’s doors Charlie Brown and I hope you make a lot of money. At least kids don’t have to pay income tax YET.
You know what would happen if congress critters were only allowed a base salary and all other forms of income were illegal? Work would get done quickly. There are numerous examples of fatcats in congress. One of the most recent atrocities is that SC congress moron that refused funding to the hurricane survivors in NY, when he himself actually received funding in a past hurricane! Of course he’s a Con! Of course there were 90+ CONS telling these people that they couldn’t have the money while they’re rolling in dough and good fortune! They’d rather spend trillions on invading other countries and killing people rather than helping our own people here at home.
Not sure what state your in but my state is the reddest in the country and it is EXACTLY how Cooncat described. All the conservatives work their butt off and while some mooch off the government it is the liberals who super mooch and won’t even get jobs despite the fact that so many companies around here are hiring.
This comic being from the 60’s was likely largly making fun of how when people try to offer services some other folks believe they are being taken advantage of during their misfortune. Quesiton is Should Charle beforced to clean it for no compensation? I think not he is just trying to make a buck, if Lucy wants it cleaned she can either pay someone or do it herself or she can deal with it being covered.
I agree some are, Social security is for sure, but food stamps is not earned that is given. In my area housing is given too, all you have to do is be a poor single mom who choose to have kids out of wedlock and you can live off child support and the government for 20+ years. These people are mostly liberals too who don’t believe in marriage nor any type of conservative values.
This is just in my area though, I am wondering those if other states/areas may have the same situation but with reversed, with liberals working hard and conservatives mooching.
bob-lezeb said, less than a minute agoThe point here is that Lucy Van Pelt always finds a way of getting “One-Up” on Charlie Brown who, by definition, is almost always “One-Down”. According to Jay Halley in his essay on Sigmund Freud—found in his book “The Power Tactics of Jesus Christ and Other Essays"—the only cure is to stop playing the game of being ’One Down" and just move on.For myself when someone couldn’t afford having their walk shoveled I took note of the situation and if the person was—in my young mind and as taught by my parents in need/deserving—I quietly shoveled it for them and moved on.Profits beyond all understanding are a sin. We are our brother’s keeper within a morally means tested regimen as laid out by Jesus Christ. Further, any Nation that does not address the needs of the greater majority of its people in a fair and compassionate way is a doomed Nation. However, at the time Charles Schulz wrote this it was all about human relationships and I doubt that it had anything to do with National & Inter-National economic’s.
this is the comic strip for God’s sake can’t we leave politics out of it??!!!!!!…..and what’s wrong with Lucy…Charlie Brown was wanting to earn some pocket change

Well, this deteriorated rapidly. Perhaps both sets could take their soap boxes elsewhere and leave the rest of us to enjoy the comics?
starbase502 almost 12 years ago
Good. Then you won’t mind if we get rid of all entitlements and let us starve.
