My wife is getting an endoscopy on the 21st. With her luck, the world will end during the procedure, and she’ll spend eternity with a tube down her nose.

I think BD is just disappointed that his daughter thinks its Saturday and not friday that the 21st falls on. The only thing I can see the Mayans predicted was celestial events

Sam’s face definitely seems more mature to me as well as her body. She is obviously still a younger person though. I have a 15 year old so I see this all the time. She seems like an adult with perfect skin and no fat. That is more or less the way they are at that age I guess… The years have not done a lot of damage just yet since she doesn’t have a lot of years yet.

This time around I’m not buying the T-shirt.

I’m always reminded, by these end of the world scenarios, of the scene in Little Big Man when Dan George, playing the old Chief, decides its his time to die. He prepares himself, lies down and waits for the inevitable, and waits, and waits. Rain begins to fall, he opens his eyes, gets up and begins to walk away. He turns to Dustin Hoffman and says " Sometimes the magic works, sometimes it doesn’t…"

As a mom of a high school kid taking finals right now, I know some kids are almost wishing for the end of the world, (at least in regard to the one that involves reading Voltaire in French— yikes.) It will be over soon, but kids that age don’t always seem to realize it…

Re: “Harmonica Convergence,” I’m trying to remember which comedian or writer did a hilarious riff on “harmonica virgins.” I think it was a Rocky Mountain News columnist who lived up in Evergreen and wrote very funny self-spoofing pieces. Sharuniboy, do you remember who that was?

Hey the Mayans don’t believe the doomsday non-sense, they know better. The calender ends with 2012, the same way the clock ends with 12:00. Supposedly we are leaving one cycle & beginning a new one, but no doomsday.For those who are unaware, yes there are still living Mayans. We call them Guatemalans & Mexicans from the Yucatan.
