Standing by Rocks on a Sunny AfternoonWhose rocks these are I think I know.Their number is a mystery though; And thus you see me stopping hereTo count a trillion plus, or so.Others must think it very queerTo embark upon a task so drearDoing this until I quakeOr for at least another year. You give your head a puzzled shakeAnd ask if there is some mistake. My tasks are often quite a leapBut this one really takes the cake. The ground is rich with rocks so deep.I’ll count and throw them on a heap,With piles to go while I’m asleep,With piles to go while I’m asleep.(With apologies to Robert Frost.)
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy EveningWhose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village though; He will not see me stopping hereTo watch his woods fill up with snow.My little horse must think it queerTo stop without a farmhouse nearBetween the woods and frozen lakeThe darkest evening of the year.He gives his harness bells a shakeTo ask if there is some mistake. The only other sound’s the sweepOf easy wind and downy flake. The woods are lovely, dark and deepBut I have promises to keep,And miles to go before I sleep,And miles to go before I sleep.— Robert Frost (1922)Click here: Wikipedia
Not necessarily so. Many people who are good at maths and science subjects have terrible trouble learning languages, just as people like me who are ace at learning languages find mathematics etc a nightmare. Different brains handle the same data differently. If you can do both, count yourself blessed.
Hi MysteryCat. Lucy became meaner after she “grew up,” but then she mellowed in her later years, during Charles Schulz’s second marriage. Similarly, some of the topics in Calvin and Hobbes reflect stresses in Bill Watterson’s life. Calvin’s discussions about mass merchandising reflect Bill’s struggles with the syndicate over not wanting to commercialize Calvin and Hobbes.
Hi, Cookies333. Good to hear from you. I thought you would be up to at least 500 cookies by now. After you eat enough of them, you will be counting them in your sleep.
Similar dream just a couple nights ago, but I was checking old Lottery tickets Boring as heck, that is until I found a Winner!!! Plus, where did all the Vixens come from???.

I’ve done that before. At my local park, there was 9,185 rocks all together. Quite a lot.

I’m sure the farmers in Kansas appreciate that “fact.” Glaciation isn’t the only source of rocks.

Happens to me all the time. When I have a sleepless night, counting sheep or making alphabetical lists is the surest way to keep awake all night.

You should have those dreams on a school day, Calvin.

I live across the street, literally, from Kansas. They have rocks. They also have wind. I have my topsoil flown in daily from Kansas.

I sympathize calvin. I dreamed about doing inventory last night. And that not even part of my job, it just desperately needs done at my job…
Boxes… Boxes… Get them out of my head.

I got bored with a fire ‘drill’.

In his dream, Calvin could count rocks many times faster than when he was awake.
