It’s unjust that nearly everyone lumps together a businessman who lobbies in self-defense against the regulators and legislators with the sleazes who run to government for hand-outs, favors, and a chance to kill off the competition. The first is an honest victim of a corrupt system; the second type is an eager accomplice of the system. For more on the difference, read Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged”.

It’s a shame that a strip with such an amazing turn of phrase, featuring a farm boy and his cow, will most likely bring the types of comments seen above. Yay internet.

You already have your own country of Leftlandia but it’s never enough to satisfy. Why is that?
“Smart regulation” is an oxymoron. Rather than punish the guilty, regulation requires the innocent to prove their innocence. It is in that climate that even honest businessmen begin to bow and scrape before their bureaucratic and legislative overlords. “Nice little corporation you have here. It would be a shame if something were to happen to it. Just do as we say and nobody gets hurt.”
