Why do people think that sitting around in a car entitles them to a smorgasbord of food? They wouldn’t eat that much sitting around at home. Or maybe they would… which is ridiculous.Good morning, Cathy clan! GretchensMom, where is GretchensDad’s family? Sounds like a good vacation!

I would take a road trip, mainly because I’m afraid to fly, but we wouldn’t need all those snacks. I would enjoy going to different restaurants.

Let’s face it: snacks keep kids happy on a trip. When my kids got older and we sold our minivan, in cleaning out the back (which I never saw because I was always up front) I found some gross things: petrified French fries, candy melted into cupholders, open ketchup packets…

It’s good to see Cathy occasionally silent and letting someone else be the joke!

The only road trip of any kind we ever seem to take is to visit my in-laws . . . and even then, the only snacks we take are fruits [like apples and bananas], maybe some veggies [like carrot sticks], water and diet drinks. The only stops we make the entire 71/2-8 hour trip [depending on how many stops we make and how long they take] are at state welcome/visitor centers for some much-needed potty breaks [especially for the dog] and there are absolutely NO restaurant stops of any kind anywhere between home and there [and the same applies on the trip back again]. While I love my in-laws a great deal, nothing about these visits EVER seem like a whole lot of fun to me!!!!! Ah, well. At least my husband enjoys them anyhow. I guess that’s the most important part. It’s only 2 or 3 weeks out of my life. He’d do the same for me, I’m sure — and with a lot less complaint too!

    Hi, rgcviper!

You’ll be in my area (well, about an hour away)!! Yay! I know this is sort of odd, but if you are interested in meeting somewhere public to say hello, I’d love to talk about it. If that freaks you out and you still want to talk outside of Cathy, feel free to email me at lightenupcathy (at) gmail.com. (I have a fairly unique name, so if I put my real email address, it’d be easy to find me). Either way, hope you have a great trip and I hope it’s relaxing and not stressful! I’ll be thinking of you!

“Oh, we had a great time. The food was plentiful and everyone always had what they wanted.

And come to think of it, I think we may have seen some sights along the way, too.”

    [Face-palm]

    HI, MOM. Hello, “Cathy” Clan.
