Cathy: My wedding dress is as much for my wonderful mother as it is for me! Saleswoman: Of course it is! Cathy: I'll search until I find the dress she always dreamed of seeing me wear! Saleswoman: That's so beautiful! Cathy: I want to fulfill every fantasy mom ever had of how her baby would look walking down the aisle!! Saleswoman: Why didn't you bring her shopping with you?? Cathy: What? And let her think I'm influenced by her opinion??

Oh, for crying out loud! Poor Cathy’s mom! Take her shopping!! My mom and I have very different taste, yet she still flew from DC to Atlanta just to go shopping with me. And sure enough we found a lovely dress that we both loved. We both have that good experience to share and remember..Hello Cathy friends! Thanks, SunflowerGirl, I had no idea! I’ve never had a broken bone in my life, so I naturally thought you’re supposed to lean on the top of the crutches. Lil will try to brace her arms today and I’m sure it will be better. Thanks, sis! I know it wasn’t the wisest decision and I tried to be safe. I just didn’t know what else to do when she couldn’t go any further without crying. She’s doing a good job hopping around, but even that gets tiring. Thanks for your kind wishes, lindz.coop!!

I’ve seen Cathy shopping with her mom. Many times Mom confuses everything because nothing is good enough when it’s on the hanger and everything is perfect when it’s on her daughter, until Cathy and the 2 sales ladies heads are all spinning. So we never actually find out her opinion and Cathy is more confused than ever. Putting some old “shopping with Mom” strips mentally in a bridal shop… they could be there for a few extra years that way. Even if these ladies were getting the “Say Yes to the Dress” opening set-up dialog- I mean, advice for dealing with brides and relatives (the one telling the other, when she first called to make an appointment, to put her on hold and run because it was an older bride was the sign for that remark)

It’s so much easier (not to mention cheaper and quicker!) if you just make your own.
With Mum’s help, naturally.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much if I were you, Cathy. Given how picky you’ve been regarding every man you’ve ever dated, I’m pretty sure your mother most likely despaired that you’d ever find anybody “good enough” to marry so I’m sure that whatever you choose — even something made out of dirty sackcloth — she’d absolutely love. Whatever it takes to get you down that aisle as quickly as possible to say “I Do” . . . because the sooner you’re married, the sooner you can get down to the serious business of producing her first grandchild that she can spoil and brag about to ALL her friends!!!
