Saleswoman: For these tough economic times, a simple, humble new look: "cheap chic." Discount store tops! Bargain basement bottoms! Frugality is in! The less you spend, the better! Cathy: I'll spend zero and wear my old clothes! Saleswoman: No good. Your old clothes cost too much. They scream "irresponsible extravagance"! Cathy: Ripped jeans and faded hoodies scream "extravagance"? Saleswoman: They're the worst! Expensive clothes that were "distressed" to look cheap! Saleswoman: This season is about authentic cheapness! You can't look truly thrifty unless you by all new, actually cheap clothes! Cathy: I can't listen to this! Saleswoman: At least stop by cosmetics and get a nice "nude" lipstick that tells the world you're not the sort of woman who wastes money on makeup!! Hot buy, then. Hot buy, now.

Where is Cathy and what have you done with her? She’d never wear ripped jeans and frayed hoodies. She’s not the type. (unless they cost her a bundle and she’s trying a fad, then I could see it)

Wow. I was confused there for a moment then read the comments. Whew, I am not the only one that was surprised, shocked actually, that Cathy actually walked away from a sale after seeing through the pitch. There is hope for our favourite nutcase after all.
Still unusually warm here for this time of year. Happy though. Getting all my outside work done since it is bound to be cold and nasty when we get back in a couple of weeks. I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday.
