This is why Watterson is so great. Capturing so well, without any dialogue. The leaf monster> priceless.

Been there, done that.

Was at a wedding yesterday, and a guy in his suit with his little nephew jumped in the pile of leaves next the church. It was really nice to see them having such a good time. As his wife said, “Suits can be cleaned – this memory is forever.”

Nice to see Dad asking Calvin if he is okay…:-)

The Muppet-like leaf monster is right up there with the snowmen strips.

The leafs have fallen and can’t get up.

I love it!When I was a kid, my whole family raked the leaves onto a big old blanket. Then one of us kids would get into the middle of the leaf pile, and my father would pick up the blanket by its corners, swing it over his shoulder, and carry it to the vegetable garden – where kid and leaves were (carefully) dumped. At the end of each night, we would light a fire & watch the leaves burn – adding nutrients to next year’s garden soil. I loved it!I still love leaf season, even though the job has been reduced to stuffing the leaves into a big paper leaf bag.

It always happens when you stack them too high. The increase in altitude provokes a rudimentary intelligence.

Watterson imagination is Calvin’s… really cool!

I love the sound of leaves when I step on them. It’s weird how they can make such a noise.

But is Calvin in the same spot where his dad left the leaf pile? In his imagination, it doesn’t look that way. If not, then the dad should consider other possibilities.

Poor Calvin — even the leaves are out to get him!

So true — better than all the “tree haters” around my neighborhood who can’t stand to have a tree anywhere on their property, so they move out here in the “country” and cut the trees all down. No more leaves to rake I guess.
