Can spend that just on household supplies easily.

To be honest, with only two people in my household I’ve found it is actually cheaper to eat out and get value items vs making something at home.

If I had a larger household I’d imagine that would change, but 2-4 dollars per meal eating out is far cheaper that 5 + for homemade stuff.

question is healthy or not though.

Since nobody else said it - I can remember when $85 would buy a months groceries for a family of four.

The nice thing with meals prepared at home is there are usually leftovers that can be consumed later, as a second meal. So if a meal costs $8.00 to prepare, and it yields 4 servings, equals $2.00 per meal. Going off the value menu a person gets a good deal on empty calories.

I generally spend my nights off cooking dinner for the family, my wife and two daughters. Left to their own they would rather take the convenience of fast food over the benefits of a balanced meal at home.

I can go to McDonalds and get two McDouble’s and I have one, my wife has one and that is our entire meal and we are satified and good.

They are a dollar each here, so for $2.12 we just had our entire meal, there is also a mom and pop place here where you can get a full pound of tater babies for 2 dollars and we can’t even eat that all at once.

I am not talking about ‘value meals’ we do not drink soda, just water…value menu’s is what we do, or coupons.
