He doesn’t come around my place anymore. Not after he had a run in with El Gato, my Watch Cat. That was what caused the demise of his bagpipes….

Wow… is he at it again?

I know the Sheriff had a little talk with him after he “invited” himself to he Millbrand’s New Year’s Eve party, and showed up with his full canopy PLUS a red carpet and a six-piece brass band.

He promised to tone it down…. so I guess now he just toots his own horn.

    That’s not enough toning down!

Bev… if you mean my yakloaf that I promised the Monkey for the Thursday special…. it won’t be ready till afternoon some time…But I’ll give you a big piece to put away for Stel….it’ll be safer at your farm than in the Tiki kitchen….

Cos the Monkey and the staff all love yakloaf sandwiches in the middle of the night.

Hopefully she’ll be in today (which is still tomorrow right now) for her yak broth and jello.

and hoping to feel up to posting later today.

I’m saving her the comfortable back booth at the Tiki…. and look forward to seeing her there.

She’s been catching up on reading all the comments….and she says Hi.

I have not yet squeezed myself a lime for my wakeup drink, but I just checked last night.@Shick, Love that you put the Ollie puppet with Rocky and Bullwinkle, what is that worm, tho’? (one I don’t remember)@Chaulk, THANKS! Squirrel and moose are also in that photo (if you can see them); They are almost out of frame in upper corner (Rocky looking from window and Rocky flying above). Alvin and the other chippies were on the sidewalk watching a game of golden goose led by Goofy. I took a lot of liberties but grouped them as I thought they fit into a modern scene (from waterfront, through inner city, to the far burbs – 3 pigs) to woods where there were pretty cottages for Snow White and dwarves, Candy house witch, the 3 bears, ugly duckling in a stream with a bridge for the dwarves and at the edge of the woods a single tree had Red RHs wolf peeking from one side while the Ranger watched Yogi Bear and Boo-boo try to panhandle at Alice’s tea party (with the others) and Bongo Bear performed on the path, Bugs bunny met Thumper, Bozo the clown (not a cartoon) was at the final side before reaching full circle at a distant circus with Dumbo and his mouse.

I’ve been posting all the photos used here to a Flicker location, as my Webshots closed down and FB can’t be shared.

Evening Ballardeers ! Glad to see you on the Bar, Fenton. I’ll have a pint of Guinness to start, if you please. Any word on how Stel’s doing ?I really hope she’s feeling better. It’s just not the same around here, without her sunny smile and infectious laugh.Any of the Yak ribs left ? Been too busy to cook lately. Made a cold tuna & pasta salad with collard greens and a raspberry-walnut vinaigrette dressing for dinner last night. Very tasty ! Sometimes I surprise myself.Guinness and Yak ribs will suit me just fine !

DAZZ, I hope I can transfer my Computer Desktop Webshots pictures to my new office computer when I get one. I am SO AFRAID of losing all those pictures! I have SO many collected for many years that I rotate for my screensavers. Everyone who comes into the office and looks at my screen for any length of time thinks I have such pretty pictures. The people at Webshots/Smiles, said they could be transferred and sent me directions. Of course, it may be months before I get that computer. LOL!

They seem to be selling well…Of course, you can, if you like, order the regular platter, with several slices of yakloaf, roast potatoes, roast onions and slaw…

But the best deal is the whole loaf for two….

The Super-Yakloaf Platter…. with a whole 2 pound (before cooking) yakloaf, and double the sides.Comes with two banana daiquiris, or substitute the drinks of your choice for $1 extra each (no charge for non-alcoholic substitutions, of course.)

And we won’t care, or tell, whether you share it or not!

(in fact, if you can eat all that yourself in one sitting, I think the Monkey will want to shake your hand.)

Susan what is today’s special? I’m hungry, unless the special is Yak! If so, is there another place to grab a bite to eat besides the Tiki? LOL! I could enjoy some Shrimp on the Barbie. Or a nice Tenderloin Steak and fresh cut fries with vinegar. (Okay, I gotta go see what’s in my fridge! I am now getting really hungry!)

Dry…. you never HAVE to order yak at the Tiki.

You can get almost anything you want, depending on who’s in the kitchen.

There are a lot of yak specials because the Monkey happens to import wonderful yak meat from far Turdmunkestan, his home away from home on his travels.

I’m not sure why you don’t want yak…. we eat lots of it on Ballard Street because the Monkey is such a generous friend, AND he owns the Tiki Bar, which is a pretty full-service restaurant as well.

So there are usually yak ribs in the smoker and yak steak, hamburger and such in the bar kitchen fridge.

I’m starving now. so load me up with the whole platter! And what are the choices for dessert? Anything sweet will do. :-D

    Dry….

Sorry…. got busy for a bit…. running back and forth between my salon and the Tiki.

Hope by now Fenton or the Fireman have helped you with dessert….There’s banana or chocolate ice cream, banana bread, and if the Monkey left any, there’s chocolate cake.

Also, if the Monkey left any, some pineapple upside down cake, and, likewise, banana pudding…and I made several flavors of Jello so Stel could have a selection, and she hasn’t been in yet.

Sometimes I bring in stuff that’s a bit fancier or more exotic…. but the problem with keeping desserts at the Tiki is…. well.., the Monkey, I guess. He has a boundless appetite for chocolate and bananas. When he’s not chasing bad guys, he does a lot of the cooking here… and HIS dessert menus are something like “one banana or two?”

    Linguist, you’re quite welcome.

I know banana daiquiris aren’t for everyone….well, the Monkey thinks they are…but even he sometimes drinks something else…

They are usually what comes with the specials cos of the giant grinder.

Substitution is always possible for a slight charge.

BTW the yak is a bovine…. so yak meat IS, in fact, a kind of beef.

It’s leaner than our domestic beef, darker red, and more tender. Some say it’s sweeter-tasting.

If you like beef, you’ll like yak.

I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t like, or take exception to Yak.

ccccIf one gets REAL hungry, out in the inner Outback, They can literally run them to death. New meaning to "bring home the Bacon [well, in Canada, at least] and the bigger the appetite, the faster one can get home to fire-up the Barbie.

Kowalski loves Yak!ccccHis favourite part is the Meat.

@Bev, comment on “I’m trying to eat” reminds me of last year’s nest watchers. I will soon be watching a 2nd season of Red Tail Hawks and some of the watchers were bothered by seeing the young hatchlings tearing into the fresh kill delivered to the nest by the parents. Never bothered me as I’m partial to fresh rare meat (and will be again after this year).
