Go see a cirque du soleil show instead! Awesome and no animals. :-)

Stop at the souvenir stand and get the Bungling Brother’s Child Rearing Kit. It has an instruction book, a whip, a chair, and a gun. Watch the animal trainers and study their proper use.They crack the whip and strike the ground behind the animals. The animals get up and move away. The whip has a bright spangle in it. They watch the whip to keep track of it and go “Ooooh, Shiney” The trainer uses the whip to point, give directions and say “This way people. We are going this way.”The Chair is used when every one starts crowding in and interrupting. Use the chair to hold everyone back until you find the head troublemaker and put him in the chair for time out.The gun makes a loud noise, gets everyone’s attention, and makes them jump and look at you. You then say " I will repeat for those that weren’t listening…"The gun only has blanks because it is easier to replace the trainer than the animals.

I’m suppose that I am just an old fuddy duddy these days, but I hate to see the poor animals confined in a zoo or at a circus.

I haven’t been to either for more than several decades. It just isn’t human to me to treat animals this way.

When I was a very young man in the fifties, I won a trip to Philadelphia where we were guests at a then popular TV program called “Under the Big Top.”

That started it for me. Later, when I was in Nuremberg in the seventies, the stinking zoo there and the sad and depressed animals cured me for all time.

While I understand what you’re saying Waykirk, I do have to point out that things, for the most part, have changed since the 50’s. The American Association of Zoos and Aquariums has strict guidelines to follow regarding animal health and welfare. You’ll still find zoos that are severely lacking but they are actually the exception rather than the rule. People don’t want to see sickly, emaciated animals in tumble down enclosures so they won’t come to your zoo and won’t give you money. Good zoo directors know this and react accordingly.
