This reminds me of my youth. we were always VERY CAREFUL about which pieces we got.

You just scrape off a little of the frosting with the jell-o spots and…

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Why was she even standing that close? When I was a kid NO ONE blew out the candles except the birthday person, and the cake was in front of him or her while everyone else stood back and watched.

I’ve never known anyone to spray saliva on a cake by blowing out the candles. And at every birthday party I’ve been to through childhood and beyond, I’ve never known anyone to get sick from eating cake that had candles on it that were blown out.You do not razz, you exhale. It’s very simple.

IGoPogo4: Oh goody! I have at least one more year! We stopped the one candle per year in my upper 20s. We got all the candles lit, but it produced a miniature firestorm, with the outer candles’ flames tilted inward and flames in the middle about six inches high. Spectacular!

Too bad he had to share blowing out the candles. On her birthday she gets to do it, this was Michael’s day. There are some things and events that just shouldn’t be shared. When my kids were little and they got a new toy or gift, I didn’t make them share just then.

In my family, the kids usually lick the frosting off the candles afterwards. But don’t worry, we wash them before reusing them. I think we do. Oh well, as long as we keep the germs in the same family……

I’d be mad as hell.
